I adjusted my clutch for the first time today myself. The clutch now wants to grab only when the lever is extended out away from the bars (more than 3/4 extended Id say), as to engaging midway or so prior to me messing with it. The clutch does not slip, but it does feel like it drags a tiny bit. It's either dragging or it's just me getting use to the engagement point, thus I'm dragging it out with the throttle. I did the adjustment per the manual. The only thing that I can think of, is that I didn't leave the 1/8-1/16 gap. Thats a very small measurement... Could I have not left enough gap? I want the clutch to start engaging at half extension of the lever, and not the 3/4 that I currently have. (Message edited by boney95 on March 15, 2009) |

There's very little to no slack in the cable. I got the ferrule butted right up against the bracket. (Message edited by boney95 on March 16, 2009) |

Why not just adjust it either way and till you get the feel your looking for. Did you just put a cable in? |

No. I just pulled it out of storage. Changed the primary fluid and thought that since im in there why not. How would I go about doing that Rpm4x4? Just keep playing with the clutch adjuster? While putting the primary/clutch cover back on with the used gasket until I get it right? Then put a fresh gasket on. |

Can you just put the lockplate and spring on any way or is supposed to be installed a certain way/position. Meaning for example there's a top and bottom of the lockplate and it has to be installed this way. This is straight from the manual: "If hex on lockplate does not align with recess in outer ramp, rotate adjusting screw clockwise until it aligns." Well if it didn't align for me, I just rotated the lockplate until it slipped on. Can somebody clear this up for me? |

Disregard this thread until I get back home in the morning to take another look at it. Now that I think about it, there may be too much slack in the cable. Very busy day today, with little time... |

I double checked it and indeed the ferrule is butted right up against the bracket with little to no slack in the cable. Any thoughts, could this be the problem? |
