Good for you, Heather. You go girl! How long are you going for? How many are you going with, if any? Wish I could come along! I spent a winter there back when the world was young. Didn't really see anything north of Mexico City and didn't have the courage, or insurance money, to take the vehicles down there. (Left my MGB and two friends' bikes in a storage locker in Texas.) Take a stout chain would be my only contribution. But more details, please. Feed my dreams!

Hey eric.
Thanks your the only one who hasn't called me crazy yet. There are three of us so far one guy on a Vmax and one on a Vulcan More the better. I still can't make up my mind as into where to go in Mexico. I have a few friends that live down there and they have already offered there place for the bikes so that they would be safe. They live in Guaymas, Acapulo and Mexico city. I don't know yet. I really want to go. I know i that i have get a windsheild and new tires but other than that i have no idea.We plan on taking a while to get there and back to see the view on the way done and stuff. I think we are taking aprox 25 days. that would travel there and back and of course beach time :) Does that feed your dream a little. I will keep you posted. :)

Heather, you're NOT crazy, just alive. consider me as someone who not only thinks what you're contemplating is cool beyond words, i'm also extreeeeeeeeeeeemely envious! :)

there is NO reason why you can't do this trip, and your Blast should make a great traveling companion.

i can offer some "must see" road options in Washington, Oregon, and California, if you and your friends are interested.

with 25 days to play with, avoid the interstates and main highways like the plague, and make a conscious effort not to set a "miles-per-day" goal (oops, sorry, kilometres-per-day!).

listen for the side-roads that seemingly go nowhere that will call out to you as you ride by -- there's a reason why they're whispering your name.

get gas often, whether you think you need it yet or not -- it takes a lot of the fun out of riding thru a remote, unknown territory when your mental computer says you've got about 10 minutes of fuel left on-board.

consider starting a thread over on the Quick Board concerning your ride -- i bet you'd be surprised at how many folks would step up and offer moral support/a place to stay/road advice, etc.

Heather, by all means, DO THIS! there will be many, many Hooligans here on BADWEB pulling for you and your friends, and living vicariously thru your adventures.

and PLEASE, report back often, k?

best,
FB :)

Littleone, have a look at your BRAG touring handbook for servicing dealers on the way down, and pre book an appointment. If I were you, I would try and pack a BLAST belt #G0500.8 $153.95CDN. A Blast belt will last approx 24,000km and this might be a hard item to find. I have a can of "Quick Flat Fix" I'll lend you in case you or those tire roasting V-Max riders need it. You might want to bring your bike in for a preventative maintenance check. I need to thank you as well for all the Blast prospects you have provided us with. I spoke with another potential buyer who had met you and called us needing more info on rider training and the Buell Blast. I hope you enjoy planning your trip, and please dont hesitate to ask us anything. The Gootch

Paul did Bob figure out what was up with your bike?
The wheels are coming off of the speed triple and are going in to be polished. Can't wait to see the results. Mike

Mike.
No he wasn't able to figure it out. I know he gave it his best shot. The next step is I guess trying to get the bike to Olympia. Hope it's not expensive! Let's see......where did I put that rum bottle

Some generic travel advice for you, Heather. The destination isn't really important.
Two years back I set out, with riding bud Jim. to do the Duffy Lake Road to the interior, heading for the Kootenees.(sp?) Got as far as downtown, saw the storm clouds looming, and headed for the Oregon coast instead. Got to Astoria, California dreaming, and let the storm clouds drive us inland, instead. Had a great time.
Specific attractions I liked: the bridge to Astoria is quite spectacular. Route 202 south east from there was a hoot of a roller coaster.
Keep in mind that the weather may be better inland, east of the mountains, than on the coast, although that coast highway in Oregon must be a hoot.
Inland, Crater Lake has always interested me, but I've never been.
Finally, I think the Baja would be a reasonable goal with the time you have. I agree with Ferris that the Interstates are to be avoided. You could make Acapulco easily by Interstate but it would be a waste of tires. Fly there. Get the beach time, then go for a ride on the Duffy when you get back.

Good Morning and Merry Christmas Eve Eve to one and all.

I hope you've all been either naughty or nice, depending on your morays, values and system of personal beliefs. May Santa be good to each of you.

Kimberlie: You can show this picture to Sweet Pea to let her know she is not alone in her suffering and indignity

I know that this time of year everyone is far too busy and already over committed but tomorrow night is Swiss Tuesday and I’ll be there for a while starting about 6:30pm. Brandon, I’d especially like to see you for a few minutes.
Here is your shirt
Scot McDowell, I have a shirt for you as well.

Thanks for a good year, everyone.

Mike - where are you having the triples wheels done and how much will it cost? I bent the front wheel on the S1 awhile back and ebay seemed the least expensive option for a straight wheel, but now they are different colors - doh!

Merry Christmas all - Rocky

Rocky: You can have your wheels painted any color you wish at your favorite auto body shop. They’ll paint right over the powder coat, the wheels will be protected and look great.

Bob: Did you know about this?
