BTW, stock best run of 119.99 hp, and A/F Values from 13 to 14. Dyno chart on the way. Wow..Did we all get screwed with the last reflash?} |

Starting to look that way, the question is, are they going to fix it? |

Guys get real about the 3rd flash. All dynos are not created the same. The important part is the comparison. |

+1 CC. BTW, we are talking about an 09, here. No Flashie No Where. Stock like Stock. Rob
Sorry for the trickle of info, but as I get it so will you. For those of you that are interested, you might check with your dealer. Do most HD/Buell shops have a dyno? If they do, you're probably looking at an hour of labor to do a couple of runs on your bike just to see where you are. There are worse ways to pi$$ off $75! |

I'ld bet that the '09 ECM has almost the same "flash" as the 3rd '08 "flash", some minor differences for the injectors and such, but basically the same |

Do most HD/Buell shops have a dyno im still amazed to find out how many dont. especially with all the boocoo bucks that got spent on all these multimillion dollar hd shops over the last years. our nearest competitor(huge new store) doesnt have a dyno, so when you quote motor work and exhaust changes with a tuner and a tune and they quote the same stuff with just a generic reflash some people dont understand the difference in what is being done to their bike, much less why it costs more to do it. |

CarbonBF, how many miles on it? I take it you have not messed with the 'noid or locked the throttle bodies. Good consistent runs. (Message edited by xb9 on March 04, 2009) |

Sorry, sorry. NOT "stock" stock. Solenoid removed, and butterflies tied. Mileage just under 3400. Rob (Message edited by carbonbigfoot on March 04, 2009) |

I'm still just blown away by how linear the power delivery is on this thing. There's no way anyone could look at the torque graphic and describe it as a "curve". Still more amazing is that it achieves this without variable cam timing, or active intake length manipulation. There are probably some electric motors that don't have as flat a "curve". I keep finding more ways that I love my baby! R |

Funny, I am only talking about posted dyno runs comparing same bikes same dynos pre and post 3rd flash, they all seem to show some sort of power loss. I am not referring to Carbon's as yet undynoed '09, but Jersey just posted some same dyno same day runs, look at the previous page. Do a search and find Dris' (Easyrider) dyno runs, he has had similar and repeatable dyno runs showing 3rd flash ('08) power losses. And, sotp my bike would seem to verify what these dynos are showing. I am not even saying they don't run basically better or smoother, better mileage, etc. BUT, they do show a HP loss and "spikey" mid to top end power. |

Are these dyno runs done with or without the air cleaner element in place? I know that can change the power output quite a bit! |

Those third flashes can be fixed: Still working on it, this is not finished.

XB9, looks great! A little more tweaking and you'll have advertised crank ratings being put to the ground!! |

The torque "curve" is unbelievable I have not seen a bike put out a flat line all the way through before. Here is my (since sold) 07 Aprilia Tuono (not a DJ dyno)
Here is my no longer owned 998 (obvious tuning was needed for midrange dip)- also not a DJ Dyno
What is my point? All 3 bikes here are big twins, all performance oriented, all water cooled, etc- but The Buell Helicon has the absolute flattest torque among these 3. Amazing the linear power, also amazing are the AF values that that are spot on/ stable with the adaptive set up on the Buell. The others I need to go round and round on the PCIII USB - and you could see I had room to improve on those bikes! COOL DEAL |

What I can't wait to see is the A/F information after the pipe. If the ECM is as smart as I think it is, those A/F #'s should be pretty close to the stock ones. My understanding is the pipe should ship early next week, and with hope I'll have the info up before I go on vacation on the 15th. |

Hey DS, I saw you're in Dripping Springs, did you have your dyno work done at AF1? |

Just a suggestion to evaluate AF ratio, do more than just a WOT pull. Before and after. Light/ medium accel, cruise at different RPMS, etc. WOT you're just using one of the TPS axis; there's like 16 axis if I recall correctly. 320 cells per map, although not all of them are typically used. And individual cylinder sampling would be required for decent accurate data, shoving the tube up the exhaust outlet doesn't cut it. (Message edited by xb9 on March 05, 2009) |

Doin the best I can with what I have... Trust me, I would love to do enough dyno time to use up a brand new back shoe, but this is what I've got! How would you control consistency in part throttle dyno runs? Use the throttle position % in the display, and try to get it the same? R |

ECMSpy has good TPS /RPM readout, but you won't be able to directly combine it with the AF readings. For steady state cruise it would be ok, as long as you describe it in your dyno files. That's where a wideband controller with data logging capabilities is the tool of choice. Sorry, but to the best of my knowledge, to get accurate data that's what you would need. Then you have to do everything over for the other cylinder, unless you have a dual unit. Lot's of work, I know! Thanks for doing this, I think everyone appreciates it. I love data. Good data. Sometimes you have to live with what you have at your disposal but then it is what it is. |

Xb9: I was thinking about the throttle position display in the display mode like when you check the AFV #'s on the bikes display. There is a parameter that displays the throttle position from 2% to 100%. Might be a way to reproduce the same throttle settings. There's a whole lot of neat stuff in that menu! R |

It's here, itshereitshereitshereitshere!!!!!! Going on tonight, Dyno scheduled for Friday. I will try to have everything up Friday evening. O M G The build quality on this thing is nothing short of amazing. If I wasn't the Barbarian Redneck Bohemian that I am, I'd feel bad about putting this thing in harms way with the inevitable rock chips and such... Damn. It is done. Now no one may oppose me. I am master of all I survey! Car alarms shall know my presence. Old ladies will shake their heads disapprovingly, and small children will dive into the hedges when I pass, and tremble as they behold my awesome power... Well, that may be overstating it a bit, but not by much. This is really cool! R |
