Well, how bad was it hurt? I see the bent push rod. What are you looking at? Head & piston? Valves, guides, and a piston? You know, Buell offers oversize pistons...HD doesn't offer them for Sporties(they'd rather sell you another cylinder, no down time!) |

there's a quarter sized hole in the piston, and the head is toast as well. Good news - the connecting rod looks good. I posted new pics on the black betty thread. This is much deeper into the motor than I've ever been before. It's kind of scary but definitely exciting as well! |

New heads aren't to pricey, let me know, I get a break on parts at Route 66. |

If anyone in the OKC area knows ECMSpy let me know.. my decision on what parts to use for the repairs will largely be determined on how easily / cheaply I can get the bike tuned. I have zero experience with ECMSpy, and don't really want to watch hundreds of dollars worth of new parts go up in smoke just because I don't know how to tune properly. At this point I can still replace everything with stock parts and not worry about a tune. |

Hey,Pk I have a ECMSPY cable, but no experience with the software. I think you would need a laptop, dyno time with a 02 snifer to get the AFV's right. Also have VDST,for resets. But I think Medic has some good advice that you are looking for in this part of Oklahoma.. |

yeah i have a cable, but likewise have never used the program. my laptop crashed a couple months ago, but I've been thinking of just getting one of those netbooks for using ecmspy. the small ones are pretty cheap and portable enough to haul around on trips. BTW if anyone has a 32 bit version of windows on CD I think I can recover my old laptop. I tried making vista recovery discs with my desktop, but the laptop won't run a 64 bit OS. If anyone's in the area and wants to get their hands dirty, or just stop by and have a beer gimme a ring. 402-253-4961 I stopped by okie city this morning to price some parts. the parts I need so far are quite a bit less expensive than I expected. Just have to tear into the bottom end today and see if there's more damage. Hopefully I'll have the motor out and cases split by the end of the day. Thanks for all the input guys. Working on these bikes is getting to be almost as much fun as riding them. ALMOST |

If anyone in the OKC area has the equipment and knowledge to help me split the cases on my '02 X1 I'm looking for a helping hand. I'll pay you for your time of course. So far this project has been a lot of fun and a good learning experience. I've got the motor out of the frame, pulled the cylinders, pistons, oil pump, cams, and clutch plates but I'm running into limited equipment, workspace, and knowledge. |

This warm weather is killing me! I've got a complete engine worth of parts waiting to be reassembled, but the swingarm and mounting block are still out for polishing so I'm bored out of my mind. Can't wait to get back on the road and meet some of you guys! BTW - if anyone needs X1 parts.. |

Who all is planning on being at Cycle Connection in Joplin on 20MAR? I found out today that the dates match up perfectly. I'll be riding to central MO on the 20th, and stopping in Joplin to see Erik will be a nice little bonus! Let me know if you're going, a group ride would be cool. I'm 95% sure I'll have the 02 X1 back together and 500mi break-in done by this time next month >fingers crossed< |

Hey Drake, Yes it won't be long.I probably will not be riding to the Cycle connection shin dig with you but I sure would like to.My wife's birthday is the 21st and she is very generous about me and all my hobbies and past time activities so I better let her have that day.(haha)I read on the other site you were gonna be meeting up with some of your old buddies so I know you'll have a good time.I wish you luck on that power competition.Looks like Starbucks is struggling with the economy so we may not have our regular sidewalk this year.I'll be watching for your post here and there(TSR)I hope to see you soon.Tell your wife hello too.Peace....... |

Just found out I get to take 2 days off work in April to attend a sportbike rider's safety course! I've already gotten time off before for the BRC and ERC from MSF. The ERC is a lot of fun for any of you who may have considered taking the course. I was pleasantly surprised to see the instructor riding a Uly. |

I will be driving my car to Joplin Friday morning. (bike won't be running by then) My plan is to leave OKC around 7am and reach Joplin around 11am. If those times correspond with anyone else I would be more than happy to carry some cargo to lighten the load on a few bikes. Just know that I'll be continuing farther north into Missouri after the event at Cycle Connection is over, and won't be coming back into Oklahoma for about a week. So yeah.. the offer is out there if anyone is interested. Other than that I plan on being there nearly all day Friday! I think I'll bring a windscreen to get signed as well.. |

Anyone here affected by the fires in the Midwest City area? Two guys at work have had their houses leveled, as well as a recently rebuilt 60's C10 pickup (arguably a bigger loss than the houses) Just curious. Luckily I'm a few miles west of the heavily affected area. |
