I'm feeling creative... but I also don't want to duplicate anybody else's work. Has anybody here ever cracked into the left hand controls to see what it would take to do a time delay solenoid thingy that resets the turn signals after a set amount of time? R | ||

I have....... My final decision was to buy a badlands self canceling turn signal unit. Install that under my CR "windscreen". Then, buy two of the Buell light flicker switches,(one for the left, one for the right) replace the turn signal switch on the left and add the flicker switch to the extra slot that's on the right. I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. | ||

The Buell switches come as an assembly only and cost about $38 each. The badlands unit is about $70. | ||

Why would you want self-canceling turn signals? | ||

That's a perfectly good reason to have them, then. I have been aggravated by the self-canceling signals on my XL's because I constantly found myself in the situation where they have canceled before I've actually made the turn. When I look down and see they've turned off I get miffed. | ||

The self canceling signals that were on my 2004 XL didn't have a timer - they would cancel after the bike finishied the lean for the turn. That way, if you're sitting a red light for a long time, they didn't turn off on you. They worked perfectly pretty much all the time. | ||

They always worked perfectly on my VRSCDX. The badlands unit works well for different situations. | ||

All my XL's had signals that canceled after a certain distance was traveled. Sometimes they'd go off before the turn, sometimes long after- it depended upon when I engaged them and what speed I was traveling. It was frustrating to me because I never could time it right, Also, not having them together on the left handlebar was disconcerting, and there was no cancel button. I prefer Buell's traditional signal controls. | ||

All Buell S-2's have self canceling signals and 4-way flashers. | ||
