I too watched the race --- first with pride as Danny fought for the lead, then with horror as he found himself 68th, and finally with amazement as he climbed to 11th before finishing at 13th. A thought just occurred to me: How would Eslick have done if his bike hadn't fallen apart? In other words, if you subtract the seemingly interminable time Danny spent in the pit (or, to be more fair, the time he spent LESS the time for a normal pitstop), how would his time have stacked up against Bostrom et al? Does someone have all that data? Can we figure it out? |

with the yellows that followed, it pretty much wiped out the extended pit stop, minus the laps lost of course. he would have been in the hunt, top 3 at least i'd bet. his lap times were right with the leaders. |

I'd bet we'd have two Buells in the top 5 finishers had the pod not separated. |

Yeah, good point. I forgot about that part. |

No sense in dealing with "What-ifs". Look forward to Fontana, and next years 200. |

What if we raced bikes closer to our displacement as Ducati does in WSBK? Some how I can't feel as good knowing we're racing against 600's and running even with them. |

the minimum weight requirements even the bikes quite a bit. you would be hard pressed to make them all even, short of having a "spec" racing series where every engine was identical. similar to legends cars. as posted elsewhere here, the HP/weight ratios were quite even. |

Yeah Sleez, I understand that now. The horsepower was somewhere in the 150 or so for the bikes and the weight requirements,as you stated puts them on a fairly even keel. |

>>>What if we raced bikes closer to our displacement as Ducati does in WSBK? It'd be VERY exciting and the Buell would do fabulous . . . .

I believe the race weight for the 600s was 365 lbs, and the race weight for the Buells was 385 lbs. They had a graphic right before the race with those numbers. |

Anyone know the reason Buell thought their front tires would last longer than the competition? REX |

I don't think that they thought the tires would last longer, it was just a tactical decision to go with slightly harder compounds and only change the rear. For 200 miles, that's not necessarily a bad call. |

remember the front tire change fiasco on the XBRR? I wonder if that was part of the decision. |

I think the front brake set up is more problematic for changes. |

I don't understand that. I've got a Gixxer with the standard dual caliper setup and a Buell. The Buell is LOADS easier to remove the front wheel on. You don't have to remove the caliper. I have to remove both calipers on the Gixxer to get the front wheel off. |

"what if" there wasn't the 4 lap cluster F@@@ with waving the leader around the safety car and Eslick had 4 more laps to break into the top 10 or possibly top 5. |

Every Team has a bunch of what if's so it is what it is at the end of the day. No what if's. What If the rules were not modified to allow the 1125 to run with the 600's? No what ifs.... |

No "what if" here, I'm more interested in "what happened?!?!" Barney's bike and others seemed to not have a "suicide door" on the right side. Eslick was the highlight of the race for me. My favorite moment might have been when he "hip checked" the guy with the zip ties and started windin' that blue duct tape around the whole deal. He's always been one of the nicest, most approachable guys in the paddock. |
