I put my bike in storage before my surgery in December... The only problem before was a pinched throttle cables... Put her to bed full tank and some Gas and a bit of stabilizer... About 3 months later! I start her up but she is rough, "time to do work!" *changed Throttle cables Emptied gas completely.. Fill tank with fresh 93 NKG Plugs.. New plug wires.. With help I reset my TPS with ECM spy.. Bike runs for a couple of seconds and then turns off.. I can reduce the Idle to like a choke condition and it will Idle rough and if I rev it it will run rough with some popping.. Time to move on... I removed my plugs and cleaned them, I wasn't happy with my plug wires so I put new stock ones in and reset my TPS... Shiz!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bike runs for a couple of seconds and then turns off.. Here I am in my garage pissed... Any help or Ideas would be appreciated.... TED... |

I can reduce the Idle to like a choke condition and it will Idle rough and if I rev it it will run rough with some popping This sounds like an odd thing to do with any motor, let alone one with an ECM. Maybe I'm missing something here. Anyway, as long as you're asking, put it back to where it should be. If it is running with throttle take it for a ride up and down the street. Introduce the two of you to your neighbours. Don't go too far since you don't want to walk back. Try some injector cleaner. |

Flog = "grip and rip, chirpin brodies, scratchin gears, etc." And lets not forget how much these bikes will wake up after a nice warm up cycle and a little carbon extraction Make sure you got the right heat rating on your plugs if you cross brand them. And try to be exact as you can with that tps setting, it means a lot to the intake system. like .2-.5 volts off will make a noticable difference. There are lots of upward channels in the motor to hold condensation, I imagine thats why you might get that "cleared out" feeling after a nice long ride with lots of throttle, basically burns off impure things inside the oil/motor/gas. mind you.....thats what I "imagine" lol p.s. almost forgot, gotta get your temperature up on the motor as well to get the most accurate settings on the tps/idle reset. I didnt notice anyone mention that, as it is an important detail too! your idle will change drasticly as it warms up if you forget this part. (Message edited by clutchless on March 07, 2009) |
