so i got my new brake system all on today and got everything bled (well i did it one good time) i took it for a ride and the brakes feel soft still.....now is this because they need bled again, well i know they need bled again, my real question is....

is there a certain amount of time or miles or heat cycle to get the pads and rotors working? like take the surface off of each of them or something? just curious what you guys have ran into....

granted my ride was about 4 minutes long and no real hard braking applied much....i know i need to run them in one good time at least

Just not broke in yet. I would find a road with no traffic. 5 hard stops from about 30mph. Then cool for 1/2 mile or so. 5 more stops from 60 letting it cool between each one. Then let it cool for about a mile.

If you don't do a few hard stops the pads might glaze from light pressure.

With new pads and rotors you might want to do a few hard stops each ride. They will prolly get better after 50-100 miles or so in town riding.

Don't be afraid of hurting them. Think racebikes and new brakes...It only takes one or two slightly slower laps to brake them in.

You would benefit from another bleed after they are broke in.

Yep break em in more, I had to ride 2 up to get mine broke in and working properly. I got them to smoke real good and then they were feeling better. I have the cheap organic EBC one's and i still dont like them, They will get to hot when riding aggressively and fade out.

When he says "smok'n", yea, they REALLY need to stink.

Think of the stench of sitting behind a tractor trailer after he locked up the brakes after a looooong downhill.

Yea, "smok'n"...

Next day should feel better.

i put some hard stops on them and they work much better. i still need to make a few panic stops on the strips by my house. thanks guys

braking rotors highly recommended by me! we will see how these double h pads wear and what they do to my rotors as time goes on

Try putting a Velcro band around the brake lever over night. Should help with the bleeding.
