I had a mishap the other day, hit a nasty pot hole big enough to get its own zip code. I had my phone in the map pocket of my Buell tank bag, and the force of the hit caused the weight of the phone to open the zipper and fall out. The phone attempted to flag down the truck behind me by getting in the way, but failed miserably. Perfect excuse to upgrade, got a HTC Touch Pro on the way!  Its like the iPhone, but better and with a keyboard, and you can copy/paste!  You guys thought I was posting a lot before, now I can do it anywhere with the power of Sprint | ||

Survey:In a survey of more than 1200 people has revealed that teenagers and twenty-somethings below the age of twenty-five would rather give up caffeine, chocolate, and even sex, before giving up their cell phone. In fact, many said that they wouldn’t give up using a mobile phone even if you gave them a lot of money. The survey, conducted by Mobile Life in conjunction with the Carphone Warehouse and the London School of Economics, found that nearly a third of all 18-24 year olds surveyed would give up caffeine (in the form of coffee or tea), chocolate and sex before they would give up their cell phone, although the 55-64 year olds surveyed would give up everything before they’d give up a nice hot cup of tea or coffee. An equal number would turn down a million pounds (about $500,000) rather than go without their cell phone for a month. There must be something wrong with me. I could give two shits about cell phones..........handy to have, but I don't live to die for it. Just an electronic leash. I'm happiest when my pager and cell phone is nowhere around me......I got better things to do than pointless chat..but when the chores are done, I'm all over the net for relaxation,information,entertainment and forums..........  | ||

Froggy, spend some time over at the forum.ppcgeeks.com - read up. In stock Sprint form the Touch Pro isn't bad...unlocked with a new rom, these things fly, and have some killer apps! I've got the Touch Diamond, and couldn't live without it...it syncs directly with my Exchange account, so my calendar, e-mail, and contacts are all in sync. If you any any questions, shoot me a pm. I already have given all that up. My caffeine intake is next to nothing, I don't like chocolate, and I can't remember my last time. I don't use the phone for talking, I beat the hell out of the data plan. I almost got written up at work, Apparently I downloaded 34GB in one month on my work blackberry, thats all surfing as it was all locked down I couldn't get apps on it. Good thing they got the unlimited data plan
Well technically my Nokia N800 isn't a phone, so sure, take my phone! Cruisin, gonna take a look there, thanks  Now I just need to get a throttle lock so I can post and ride. | ||

I'm 25. I hate cellphones. If I knew my wife would leave me alone at work, I wouldn't have one. She can just text me the million things she has to say. Being married, the only one of caffeine, chocolate, and sex I get is caffeine. If I wasn't married, I wouldn't have a cell phone. For the most part I use it for texting my wife, GPS and as a music player with my Micro SD. We're due to upgrade in April. I want an Iphone, but we have Verizon. We'll end up with Blackberry Storms. | ||

Good choice on the Touch Pro. We have the Palm Pre coming out in a couple months (We meaning I work for Sprint). Palm Pre is suppose to be a killer phone. | ||

+1 Thumper...I hate them too. Their pretty much a way of life now though. I couldn't get stuff done at work without it. I recently updated as well. Emails to and from on the fly is great. | ||

Teeps, it's not that I need to be, but I like being connected. Someone sends me an e-mail to my personal account it could be days before I read it and respond. Now that it comes to my phone I can respond immediately. I also don't need to sit down in my office every few days to answer e-mails that I haven't seen yet. It's convenience, and especially when I'm in a tech job running around...the wife or friends can't call me because I probably can't answer where I am. But she can e-mail, and when I have a second I can e-mail back. I've had a cell phone since 1995 and have just gotten used to it, and as a computer geek love the extra things that they are capable of. I've got TomTom Navigator 7 loaded, an FM Radio, MP3's, not to mention a web browser... | ||

I'm making the leap to iPhone soon. . . . I've been with Verizon for years but even with the 22% employee discount my bill, with all the goofy taxes and so forth runs about $225/mo. I may keep the verizon # and put it on the cheapest plan they have as a backup. The attraction of the iPhone is being able to synch everything seamlessly. | ||

I don't have a mobile phone or a red button. Entirety by design. If I had 'minions' I would. Hate is too strong, but I am offended by people who take social calls on a mobile phone whilst in my company. Yapping to someone else while I sit there dumbly will see one of us leave. Probably the phone junkie. :-) | ||

Court, Windows Mobile (Touch Diamond, Touch Pro, etc) sync's everything as well...and you can do a lot more with it... Don't get me wrong, the iPhone has a kickass interface, and has a lot of neat things...it's tempting...very tempting... Dave, I agree...I may answer if I think it's important, at which point I'll keep it damn short. If I don't need to talk to them, then I don't answer it. | ||

Funny how this thread pops up as I'm in the hunt for a new smartphone right now. I have the HTC 8525 and have had it for a while now. It's a kick ass phone but I want something smaller. Froggy I was looking at that phone but it isn't much smaller than my 8525 so I'm passing on it. It looks like a great phone and, I believe, it is the newest generation of the phone I presently have. Good choice!!  I LOVE the HTC diamond but I'm on AT&T and they don't offer it, only Sprint.  I'm contemplating getting the LG Incite but not sure. There really isn't too much that is out there that I like. My 8525 is very good to me so finding something as good or better, in a smaller package, is becoming a daunting task. I wish HTC would release a Google G2 based phone on the AT&T network. The attraction of the iPhone is being able to synch everything seamlessly. Court..... A windows mobile based phone will as well. Some would argue that a WBM phone will do it better. My HTC will receive an email on Outlook before my desktop computer at work does, always. I like the iPhone but wouldn't own one, too many little things about it annoy me , like no Copy n Paste. How stupid.  | ||

Damnnut, the Diamond is GSM compatible, it should be fine on ATT, unless they are giving you the "Must buy high profit Iphone", like dealers that push sportsters on potential Buellers. Anyway they just unveiled the Touch Pro 2 and Diamond 2 the other day, but it will be forever before we see them. | ||

phones are not fun I am one of those aholes however who will talk and drive at the same time. Its ok though I am in NJ you need something to take your mind off the hole shot that is our normal driving routine | ||

Court: Just have them port your Verizon number over to ATT. We did that with our landline. We had it ported to Jerry's cell phone and we never miss a call. We get our internet by satellite so we have no need for a landline now. We saved several $$$ per month doing it like this. Carol | ||

Thats my only concern, it will really vary depending on use and programs running. There are some tweaks to extend it. I am already working on getting a cradle for the Buell | ||

Court - you can take your number with you, even when you switch companies. We were on Sprint before we got our iPhones, (their service was HORRIBLE) and when we switched to AT&T we brought the numbers we'd had for a few years with us. And as far as synching everything, you'll love MobileMe. I keep my calendar on my laptop, desktop, iPhone and on the web, and everything syncs automatically. It's a perfect solution and it happens without having to physically hook anything up to anything else. I love it! And the copy-paste thing, well, that's why I have a laptop. I don't use my phone as a laptop, and don't feel the need to whip it out of my pocket and edit word documents...  I just use it to make calls, keep track of appointments, surf the web, play games, check the weather radar, find a good restaurant nearby, listen to music, watch movies... | ||

I have both an HTC Touch Pro (From the office) and an iPhone (Personal). In my use, the iPhone blows the Touch Pro away. | ||

Also, I have had the Touch Pro 3 months. It has locked up atleast once a week causing me to miss important calls. My iPhone in its year and a half, has only locked up once. | ||

I've used a couple of smartphones before I decided on an iphone. What sold me was the interface. At the time, the LG Dare was the closest thing to an iphone outside of a blackberry, and the interface sucked, the web browsing sucked, the experience just sucked. Consumer? Iphone. Hands down. Power user? There are options, but an Iphone is still worthy. Business? Others may likely be better. I'm happy with mine. BUT - for $500,000, and the ability to keep a healthy sex life, you can have it for a month. Oddly, I love having it with me all the time, but I hardly use it as a phone. It's great to kill some time while waiting for the misses to pick out a sweater at the mall, watch a movie while on a flight, make sure the weather forecast is still favorable while your on the bike 200 miles from home. | ||

I could not...NOT have an actual keyboard. I can type way faster than with a damn touch keyboard. I even installed a skin exactly like the iPhones and I do not like it. I even have a 16gb Touch and play with it on WiFi and such, but I only paid $70 for it...It's cool, but I wouldn't want to use it for typing all the time. | ||

Hey Court why $225 a month? That just for your phone? Get the Sprint Simply everything plan. $99 a month. Unlimited talk, data, navigation, push to talk it you want it, etc. and you can bring your verizon number to Sprint when you switch. If you go with a unlimited plan from ATT or Verizon they charge the $99 then like another $39 for a data plan. |
