Hey Tone -

Good for you. I like a little different too.
I was going back and forth with twin mufflers vs. a single in the "old"...high mount location.

I think I'm going with a single. Just have to find a large core muffler.

I'm going w/ the same idea.... already picked out my muffler, just need someone to "build" me a collector to connect my headers to my downpipe/muffler

well once the old muffler was off we started looking at it my muffler shop is putting one twelve inch glass pack a 2 into 1 collector from the headers to the glasspack and a turnout to the side it will look almost just like a d&d pipe but its gonna cost about 150 bucks. pics will be up soon going by the shop tommorow at lunch.

I was looking at the cut outs of the stocker, looking @ how the baffles? and "chambers" were configured... creating back pressure w/o impeding flow too much. So I have been looking at different mufflers and found one I think can mimic the stocker in back-pressure while flowing slightly better.

Just FYI. I first tried the two into two exhaust for my 1125R using two straight through 12" bullet type mufflers. Way too loud. Ear shattering loud and absolutely no back pressure. Engine ran really bad. Scrapped that idea and after looking closely at the stocker cut away went to a 15" turbo type muffler with an insert for back pressure and voila' I had the right sound and by SOTP testing equal or better H.P. as the stocker. See below. Dyno is yet to come and I'm in no hurry due to warranty constraints. Anyways have fun, its a very interesting endeavor to say the least and doing all the fabrication and welding myself a lot of work. Worth it? Maybe, time and dyno will tell. Bob

Bob, bad picture or not, thank you for your input... I'm hoping the internal baffle style of the Gibson will give me some back pressure and hopefully keep it to a normal tone... again, thank you for your input

Nick, I like the design of the Gibson but had to go with a more conventional turbo type because I found one in 12"long by 3 1/4"deep by 8" wide so it fit closer to the engine, with a little hot wrenching, cleared my full lowers and has good ground clearance. My insert is home made, based on Carchemistry's design and is easily removable for extra H.P. when easy tuning and dyno work is available. Good luck Nick and have fun. Bob

Funny you mention the Carchemistry's design... I was reading about that no more than an hour ago. I realize my muffler may be too big but waiting for my bike to get back from the dealer to get some measurements. I am hoping that this exhaust doesn't prove too loud also. Thnx again, I will make sure to keep updating as I get more into it. Nick

well i hope mine wont be too loud with the two into one idea we came up with it wont be much diffrent from a d&d witch is loud and thats what i want the glasspack im using has really good baffles in it. i ran the bike with open headers for a few mins and it sounded like my old sportster on steroids so we will see....

Just be careful cause eventually that glasspack will break in and youll start loosing that backpressure. Still would like to hear that beast when its done.
