It's in the motorcycle and cars/trucks section, only thing wrong is the clutch slave cylinder went bad, that's why I have it listed way less than it's worth. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/mcy/1053620633.ht ml |

So can we get an idea of who's going to Joplin? And also when we're leaving and what we're doing so people can make plans. Lee, you can usually come up with some good routes to take and things to do since you're the GPS guy. I think I'd like to stay friday night somewhere instead of riding back in the dark/cold, then ride some more on the way back saturday. Hopefully the weather is nice! Fester, you and Sam still going? |

Yes Sam and I are in that's for sure. I think the plan for us is to head down on the Thursday morning or early afternoon. Hook up with Jeff and relax before the weekend. |

Cool what all do you have to do? And if you wreck then what? Will insurance company still cover it? |

i went to HTP last september. it was my first season on a road bike ever. i ended up wrecking the last lap around corner twelve, which was my fault because 1 i came in too hot and 2 my rear tire was bald. i was going about 80+ when i felt my rear tire slip out from under me, i calmly started to slow down, ended up in the death wobble in the grass so damage was minimal! just make sure you have fresh tires. my insurance unfortunatly did not cover shit. what happened was my timing cover was destroyed and my black headers a bruised up a little bit. costed me about 30 for a new timing cover and she was back to normal! i would like to go again, it was really a blast! |

Bear, Like they said, insurance will NOT cover anything. Unless you lie, but that is a felony. Just go out there and be CAREFUL and you will not mess your stuff up. Trust me, you can be cautious and still have LOTS of fun. (Message edited by dtx on March 05, 2009) |

Sorry fellas...but I am not sure I will be able to make it to Joplin. Story below: Yesterday was a great day. The weather was nice, but a bit windy, so I decided to stay in town and ride around. Friday I put on a brand new Bridgestone B-002 rear tire (more on that later). I rode by myself and heading into town. I cruised down Brookside, stopped at the KTM shop and talked to Juan, drove by one of my jobsites downtown and basically went exploring around. Even got lost briefly. Well, after about 2 1/2 hours of riding I decided to head home. I take the long way home and my fuel light comes on as I am heading there. I stop at the gas station just 1 mile from my house. After filling up, I look at the new Bridgestone since it now has some miles on it. I thought to myself, "I need to scrub this tire in a little bit more". So instead of heading home, I go to this new neighborhood that is being built about 3 miles from my house. I am feeling good and was pretty much gonna wrap up a nice day of riding. I turn into the undeveloped (no houses) neighborhood and do my usual little routine...a couple of 90 degree turns on newer asphalt. This is where that new tire bit me. The first left hander I go into I tip it in and start to accelerate out of the corner. As soon as I roll on the gas, the back end breaks loose and the bike gets completely sideways. For a split second I thought I could recover. Then, it catches traction and I go flying into a spectacular high side. I land very hard and very square onto my left shoulder about 30 feet from the bike. In fact the first thing I remember after getting up was "I can't believe how far I am from my bike". My shoulder was really messed up and I actually thought it was dislocated. After a few minutes I gather myself and somehow manage to pick my bike up with one arm. I was only 3 miles from the house and the bike looked completely rideable except for some scratches. All the sliders worked very well. No major damage. The 3 mile ride back to my house was the most painful 3 miles ever. By the time I roll in the drive way, the neighbors knew something was wrong and came over. As a precaution, they called 911 and the ambulance came and took me to the Hospital. But not before they had to CUT my leather jacket off of me. Amazingly, I had no broken bones, but my shoulder is badly separated and is about 2" lower then my right one now. I go to an orthopedic doctor later this week. This was my 1st motorcycle wreck in 5 years of street riding. I knew it would eventually happen and I am glad it was not worse. But let me tell you, I had all my gear on and this is the most pain I have ever experienced in my life. My Alpinestars jacket has shoulder armor in it, which I am thankful I was wearing. Without that armor, my shoulder probably would have been shattered. I have minimal road rash on my knees and elbows. The palm of my leather glove did fail and caused the worst skin damage. Also, the face shield of my helmet was all scratched up. (Please...always wear your gear!) Overall, it was quite an experience. I will likely be off the horse for several months. |

Glad you didn't get hurt too bad. Sorry it had to happen though. I tore my ACL (right knee) last year after falling off the dual sport while riding in an unfinished housing development. I am still recovering from the surgery so I know what you mean about the pain. I was off bikes for almost 6 mos. Hardest 6 mos in recent memory. Haven't been in an unfinished housing development since either. |

Bad news here too.. I went down on k-10 at the K-7 exit ramp going to Lenexa. I had my roommate on the back. She pointed at the last minute that we needed to get off on k-7. I going about 70 mph. I tried to make the turn to get to the ramp.. To much speed. She didnt lean in time with me as well... we ended up with a low side in the dirt and grass on the left side of the ramp. We both went flippin.. bike tumbled a few times and feet as well..my roommate ended up hurting her hand.. I was knocked out.. woke up in the weeds.. hurt my left knee, left thumb, right hip, and my neck, also had a 3 inch gash in the back of my helmet.. also a few scrapes on the front from sliding on my face.. HELMETS DO WORK!! Bike is in the shop now getting repairs.. Hope i get in back in time to ride to Joplin, but its not looking very good.. $1,300.00 in damage... |
