Just wondering if anybody has one of the Buell Leather Jackets that MSRP for $450 on the Buell site. If so please let me know what you think of it before i go blow a bunch of money. Thanks for the help.

I'd like to know the answer too. I have the Buell gloves that come halfway up the arm and they rock! I wear them when I'm on my harleys too (keeps the intense FL sunshine from aging my pretty hands) hee hee

I tried one on at the dealer and found that the sleeves come up short when extended out in the riding position. I really wanted to get one, but ended up with a Joe Rocket Sonic 2 instead. If you've got longer arms (or are taller in general) then the sleeves on the Buell jacket will probably come up short.

Btw, I'm 6'1" @ 200 lbs. Armpit to wrist is 23-24" and to the tip of my fingers, about 30-31" so you have a reference size. None of the Buell jacket sleeves were long enough, from small all the way to XXL. I actually tried all 4 sizes on just to see if it would be long enough. The XXL came close, but was too big in the chest/waist.

I don't know who they use for there leather anymore but I would go for the Vanson Buell Leather jacket. Thats what I have and the quality is amazing. Plus it comes in long/tall sizes. It was $605 but if you want a good jacket you cant beat it.

Yea, I called Vanson and they sent me a catalog with all the Buell stuff. This Jacket is a Vanson XRRA Long Jacket so just google that and some stuff should pop up.

This guy is selling the older non racing version of the jacket on ebay. Very similar jacket it just doesn't have the Buell Racing logos.

It took them 3 months to get it to me. Each coat is made to order and mine is a Large Tall. I'm 6'3" 200lbs and it fits like a glove.

Vanson doesn't make the Buell jackets anymore - they lost the license to produce them at the end of 2008. So, if you want any of the Buell Vanson jackets, you might have to look a little harder.

Do still call them to check on what you're looking for though. They still have a couple on the racks, just can't make them any longer.

Heliconcr,

I tried on one (two) of them at a dealership. They had three of them sizes 42, 44, and 46. I tried the last two. I didn't see anything sized as L, XL, etc. I don't know if that matters or not. I am 6'5" and had plenty of sleeve length in both jackets. I checked on the spot and found that the zippers are compatible with Joe Rocket MC leather pants. My pants zipped together with the jacket no problem. The zippers looked identical. Looked like a high quality jacket to me, for what it is worth anyway. I'm still thinking about it too.

Black:
Since you tried them on, I'll ask what is not clear from the Buell page info: Is the waist zipper on the jacket a full zip or just an 8"?

(1) 11" zipper on the back, (1) 5" zipper on each side in the front. Total of 3 zippers. That's how it is on my BU53. Not sure if it's the same on the BU59.

The one I looked at had both an 8" or so zipper in the middle of the back waist of the jacket and a full zipper that ran the waist of the jacket. Hope I'm answering the question. They are the zippers you would zip into a pair of pants to make a full suit.

Chad/Black:

Yep. Question answered! Thanks. My local dealer doesn't stock much of anything as far as Buell apparel goes and details elsewhere are lacking. I may want a full-zip for a potential track day, and that IS a sweet looking jacket. The Joe Rocket link is handy to know as well.
