Does anyone have information on the corbin 1125r seat? There is a firebolt seat available which fits fine but for some reason my harley dealership doesnt want to sell it. -something about different suspension. Can any corbin seat owners comment? | ||

I bought directly from Corbin, just do not tell them it is for an 1125R or they will not sell it to you. Do a search on here this has been discussed quite a bit earlier. | ||

I took the Corbin seat that I had on my Firebolt off and put it right on my 1125. No issues. | ||

Cut the front bumpers? I'll check... but I think the issue is that the bracket butts up solid against the latching hook on the frame and won't go any further. I'll look, though. Thanks. At this point, I'm willing to try anything. | ||

The front bumpers are useless on the 1125R, because there is no "shock tower" for them to go on, and the solenoid is in the way. Cut them off. n a firebolt, they do serve some purpose, but they need to be trimmed down quite a bit for proper fit. But the FRONT bumpers aren't your problem. The problem is that the MIDDLE bumpers are too tall. The tongue that goes under the hook that holds the seat down is at an forward sloping angle. The middle bumpers being too tall are preventing the tongue from going any further forward under the subframe hook. Cut 1/8" of thickness from the middle bumpers. That should allow the seat to slide forward until the seat is flush to the airbox cover. It is very likely that the holes won't align still. I elongated my holes a little, you can see that in the seat post retaining pin thread pictures. I rather like the corbin seat on my 1125R, but I wish it didn't have welting/piping. I didn't order it that way, one just came from Corbin that way so it went on my bike. For track days, I'd run the stock seat. For distance, corbin all the way. But I'm not carrying the line any more. Corbin was just too big a pain in the ass to deal with, seat after seat. They finally wore me down and I pulled the plug on them. Al | ||

Damn... not there yet. Removed the front bumpers, cut down the middle bumpers and I STILL can't line up the holes. They ARE closer, though. Maybe now I have to bug someone who knows how to work with metal to "oval" out those mounting bracket holes... | ||

Who ever buys it should move production to Fl. All that bike traffic on 95 for daytona can stop and buy a seat properly fitted like the cali people do. | ||

You're not trying to align the holes with the bumper trimming, you likely won't succeed. Your goal is merely to get the seat to engage the subframe hook and go forward until the front of the seat is against the airbox cover. Past that, you'll have to oval the holes. I'd love to tell you differently, but it ain't so. Oval the holes in the bracket to make it line up once the seat is as far forward as the airbox cover will let it go. Of course it shouldn't be that way. Such is Corbin. But once it does align, it's still the best distance seat that you can put on a firebolt or 1125. Al | ||

Corbin would not even talk to me about a custom for my 1125. I ended up sending my seat to Roberti Customs who provided exceptional customer service. Good ol boys down there in the south. I'm vertically challenged so it wasn't purely about show. He cut out a crapload of foam near the airbox which gave me about .25-.5" more footwork. Diablo and I had a 1:1 last week, it hit 70 in Wisconsin. Back down in the 30's now. Anyway, I got lost in riding and forget all about the seat. Rubber side down boys....  | ||

Hey Ponti1, Mostly lowered. Seat is a bad design but probably a necessary evil for some reason but there is a big hunk of plastic at the cowel and mine had a "crapload" of extra foam in there. I have not noticed a difference at all in the comfort but if necessary, I'll take it apart myself and install a gel pad. The next mod is probably going to have to be suspension which I am avoiding at this point. John and I talked through what I wanted and he was able to get it done sans my request for gel. He said the seat is minimally modifiable. | ||

Hey dawg- Around $80 and I didn't give him a time limit (he had it for about 3 weeks). I sent it to him in the winter here in Wisc. To be honest, I'm not sure that someone wouldn't be able to do the foam mod on their own if they were careful. Also, it didn't make as much impact on the height as I had hoped. Good luck whatever you decide. |
