A motorcycle chopper type place. The kind of place that would love to rob your bike of it's engine and put it into an 8 foot long chrome frame that won't turn corners.
That's where I like to go anyway. It's a lot of fun parking next to the bikes outside that don't look or perform as well as your own, but cost three times as much.
I think the name Sandra will have to follow the orange plastics onto the newer bike. Can't really keep calling her Black Betty when the only things left black will be the cylinders and heads.
I had a big thing for reds back in late high school/early college years, heck still do but I won't tell the brunette wife that! Her name isn't Sandra though.
If I had a bike named Black Betty I would never get that Ram Jam song out of my head. Waaooo Black Betty wam-ba-lam.
PK, if you didn't get the kick stand spring on yet, I would suggest picking up a drum brake tool that has the concaved end for installing break springs.
Thanks Will. I pulled the pin out of the kickstand hinge, then just forced the kickstand counterclockwise until the spring came loose, and re-installed with the new spring using the same method. It's hard to explain but wasn't very difficult after some sitting back and looking at all the possibilities.
I broke my sheetmetal brake by trying to bend too thick of material, now I have to fix the break in my brake cause it's broken, so I guess it's just a bad break for my broken brake .
I installed most of the LED kit tonight. I still have 2 15-LED strips left. One will go on the rear shock and shine on the ground, the other will go under the upper belt guard and shine on the rear wheel. The lights are a little more purple in person.. sort of like a blacklight.
This strip is stuck inside a recess on the bottom of the lower fork clamp, and shines on the front fender.
This is taken from about where the intake would be. The strip you see on the top is stuck to the frame, the middle strip is on the bottom of the fuel tank, and the one on the bottom is on the bottom of the battery tray.
These are the same strips as the previous pic, but from the right side of the bike. The plug wires are the orange ones from Ironmachine and they look amazing under the LEDs. Yet again, the camera really doesn't do it justice but the top picture in this post shows the wires glowing quite a bit next to the front tire.
These are the strips I put on the tank. The kit came with 3M tape on the back of all the LED strips, and in this case I superglued the wire to the bottom of the tank to keep it from touching the rocker box covers.
Almost forgot.. there are also 2 3-LED strips illuminating the white painted tank through the nostrils in the tank cover.
That kit looks pretty good too. I just prefer the ease of mounting and hiding strips as opposed to pods, and IMO they offer smoother light with less visible hot spots.
The Boogeylights kit has a remote switch as well. I'll get that wiring done later after the subframe is back on the bike. The LEDs are just running off jumper wires for the pics.
You are doing this on your X1 right? If so, is that the fuel filter in that picture? Mine is on the left hand side right behind the air scoop... How come yours is in a different spot?
That's the bottom of the fuel cell Kalali, flip it over and it would be on the left hand side, behind the air scoop.
You posted that just in time PK. I was debating on whether or not to install some lights but now I think I will go ahead and do it. I think I'll wait until most of the motor is back in though because sure as God made little green apples I'd jack the lights while putting everything back together. Looks good. Where did you buy your strips? I've been looking here and there and the best I've found so far are at the local Autozone. $20 for a 15" strip. Think I'll only need three maybe four tops.
Boogeylights.com I got the ultimate engine kit. Was like $170 but worth it imo due to quality, versatility and ease of mounting, and light quality. They're always changing the kit contents too. I got mine with a remote switch and 72 leds I think. Right now the package they're selling doesn't include the remote switch. They have some color changing kits too but not in the cut and click strips.
