Hey everyone, is there a place on the forum with a laundry list of technical stickies for the 11? I'm taking my bike in on Monday for the clutch leak and I want to hand them a laundry list of items to fix. For instance, this boiling gas thing is getting old already. Its about 88 today, humid as hell and the fuel in my tank is boiling, again. I knew of the problem before I bought the bike, and many others, but because I like the bike so much I'm will to put up with a few PITAs. What can the dealer do about the boiling gas? Actually, a better question is what WILL the dealer do about the boiling gas? I'd like to know. | ||

Dunno, that is what I'd like to find out. I've searched through threads and seen reference to an insulation kit. I was kind of hoping the collective knowledge of the board would be consolidated somewhere. If not, it is what it is. | ||

This particular forum doen't lend well to "sticky" topics. Personally, I like the SMF forum style for administration, etc. Blake, if you read this, take a look them. I know you can import the database from this forum (discus pro) into the SMF format easy enough. Moderation of the forums is much more user-friendly also. http://www.simplemachines.org/ to get it, http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php if you'd like to see it. Thanks D Adams. I'm a mod over on the FZ6 Forums and the software the admin uses is great. Easy to sticky, really helpful to find stuff. Not sure if it is the same app, I'm just a user. We have an Elite level and a Premium level that help cover the costs of administration. illsecond that this forum is theMOST COMPLICATED forum to use from searches and looking up old stuff to just sending a pm... but at the same time is prolly THE BEST when it comes to buell info. so its an even trade off. but on another note the BLAST section on this forum is like its own little mini forum and is alot easier to navigate then the rest of this site. and there are stickies or locked threads that stay on top. | ||

We've had vBulletin installed and running on the server for almost a year now. The security issues and lack of professional help--I've had a tough time finding anyone that passes muster--to perform a complete/comprehensive conversion from Discus to VB have kept me from opening it to the public. Please know that I probably more than anyone am frustrated by the clunky archiving scheme employed by Discus. I like the idea of stickies too. If you have any existing threads that you think deserve that kind of status, we can create a page to post links to them. | ||

I cruise a lot of other forums. *turbobuick.com , silveradoss.com , and I had my own military forum for a while at *airborne-sapper.com but I used phpbb2. We had a serious issue with spam bots with that software. Just an idea for Blake, maybe I can get some of the other guys to pitch in. At Silveradoss.com what the senior guys started doing was posting "How Tos" in a separate forum. For example... Let's say I wanted to look up "How to Properly Change my spark plugs" I'd just search that forum and viola. A nice topic would appear complete with pictures and easy to understand guidance and a bit of how to, as well as why. I can think of a few good things we can how to. But Blake or the other mods don't have the time to work on them by themselves. So it's up to us as users to do them on say a word doc, with pics and all, then email them to the mods, have them looked over and then posted. This system works out great when you have users who genuinely care and believe in the whole information sharing concept. Another good thing for newer users is to assemble a list of modifications and tweaks that they can do on their own just to see what is available. The hardest part about getting a new bike is trying to find good vendors and seeing what the general community feels about certain aftermarket parts. I don't mean to step on anyone's toes. Blake you have your hands full I am sure. I'd love to help in anyway I can. Anyone else interested in maybe tackling a few How Tos and Lists?
