Saw this on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-Buell-XB12X-XB 12-XB-12-Ulysses-Adventure-Rebuilder_W0QQitemZ1203 82935852QQihZ002QQcategoryZ6704QQssPageNameZWDVWQQ rdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#ht_2818wt_1851. If I could fix it for under 2g's it might be a good deal. I wonder about the frame damage but maybe just a new puck would fix it. Hey could Dr. Greg have a good back wheel & swing arm? I could pick the bike up with my trailer (5 hr drive) and save shipping. |

I am always up for a repair job, but that last picture says enough to tell me STAY AWAY!!! You just never know if it is "only" the swing arm.... And even if it was it still isn't a steal at that... just my opinion. |

Those guys can be a bear to deal with. They have had the bike for over a year at least and have put it on ebay a couple of times. I would look at it first before you buy. If I was going to be home anytime soon I would go look at it for you but I am on the road for a few weeks. They probably have it stored inside at least so it won't be sitting in the snow. |

It might be a deal for half the buy it now - otherwise I would not touch it. For a couple thousand more you can get one just like it pre-crash, not sure you could get the parts that one needs for that. |

""For a couple thousand more you can get one just like it pre-crash"" +1 Another consideration, is that there are always parts which may have suffered stress in the crash, that is NOT visible to the naked eye, but that could end up failing in a few miles, or a few thousand miles, once you're on the road. And part failures on a motorcycle are typically, IMHO, more dangerous than in a car. Just a thought. . |

If you could pick it up for $1500 or so, then I'd say go for it. You could part it out and make money. But for $4000, put down the crack pipe, and run away. You can buy a perfect bike for not much more than that. |

I would say that the only salvageable part of the bike is the motor and maybe the seat. Tom B |

No way would I get within a mile of that bike other than for some parts....for really cheap. 3K for a bike that badly damaged is a more than a bit crazy when you can get a nice used one for about 5K. |

I see a good chuck of parts on it I would love to take off it, but at $4k they can shove it. |

"frame has a shallow dent..." Run away unless all you are looking for is the motor. |

Dag...what was the windshield stained with!? Hope the rider was okay... And that salvage yard shot on the site is incredible. It would be fun to poke around in there... |

Hooper it would be great if they would let you. Everytime I have gone there they say they can't let anyone out in the yard. Auto yards let you wander all you want. Also you will NEVER get them to lower their prices. Quite shocking really. My brother offered them $500 less than asking on a $5000 bike and they said can't do. They still have the bike 2 years later. Do a search for wisconsin cycle salvage and you can check out there salvage/new arrivals on there. |

There is a lot of slack in that belt - how tough are the swing-arm pivot points on the engine castings when treated to this sort of punishment? If you couldn't have a really good look at it I would stay away. |
