My wife and I are going to take the whole month off in July and tour Europe on my XT. The top case will be for camping gear and pretty much the entire side cases will be hers. So I need more space for things like cell phones, gps, PDA with wifi, and maybe a change of underwear. So I feel like I have been reading the interweb till my eyes are bleeding but I still can not get much info on good fitting tank bags for a XB. I do not really like the look of the Buell deluxe and am not willing to spend 260 on the touratech. I like the look of the marsee bags but can not find any info on putting one on a Buell except some info on PSN that goes nowhere when I research it. Anyone have any recommendations? One more thing, how are the interior bags for the side cases? | ||

Keith, I have a Marsee and if you get one with the strap kit it will fit fine. I've been using mine for the last three years and last year I have to replace the plastic map holder but I don't have one of the new ones that has the hard shell top. Mine came with a small detachable that is supposed to mount to the front near the gas cap but I've never used it there. I have it full of tools and stuff and it fits great under the seat. My wife and I did a six day trip to the Le Mans Moto GP and Normandy back when I was stationed in Belgium. One side case was hers, the other mine and the op case was for my Oh Sh!t kit and our rain gear. Then I had other odd's and end's in the tank bag. We put all of clothes in 2 gallon zip lock bags just in case the side cases leaked (never did, never have) and it also allowed us to compress our clothes quite nicely. Let me know if you plan on heading to Italy and we would gladly put you guys up for a night. If you want you can plan on changing your oil/filter here at my house if you'd like. I have the deluxe on my xt. It did work really well, when my gal and i went on a trip. It fits the bike well, and can hold a lot of stuff. It did well in wet weather. If you don't find what you are looking for, this bad may work for you. just my 2 cents. | ||

My thoughts are for gps cable and stuff, the handle bar bag, and gor your clothes a 30 liter roll bag from the german catalog Louis, it wont pull you back much more than 10€ for the roll bag and what ever it cost the handle bar bag (Touratech does one too) i'm sure you can hook the roll bag on top of the top case. | ||

Hey Keith I've seen people epoxy a little steel to the back side of the airbox cover and use a magnetic tank bag that might broaden your choice for bags. | ||

There's always the Bagster option, I have one and you can re-fuel without removing the tank bag. Thanks for the replies guys. I will look into all the options listed here. Dick I may be able to take you up on that. I have already reserved a cabin in Garmisch Germany for 7 days at the end of the month and plan on touring the Alps nearly every day (I love mt biking too so that may eat up a lot of time.) I went with the GTX-Mini from MotoPak http://motopakluggage.com/gtxmini.html  Just cut the front strap, and bolt it on with the air box cover screws, trim the pad to clear the air intake and you done.  Its good quality, comes with a rain cover, $50-55, they are on sale now, and I dont have to take it off to fuel. Keith, I live about 2 hrs south of the Austria border, I'm stationed at Aviano AB near the town of Pordenone.
