Wait a minute. I saw the ST1300 at Long Beach. It had the integrated saddlebags and looked pretty cool. At least I think it was the ST1300. The FJ1300 was there and looked almost "normal" compared to it. Sparky |

Sparky... Where was the ST1300...My friends are still there and I can call them. I was talking to them while they were in the Honda, Yamaha and Buell exhibits. That way I get the brochures before the Chi-Town show. |

FYI, by the time the MC Show gets to Chicago, all the big and beautiful brochures are gone and all you get is those little mailers. Yuck! That is why I do the live-from-the-show thing the since moving to Wisconsin. I get a nice care package from the guys before Xmas and am all warmed up for the February show in Chi-Town. |

Sparky... You were right. The ST1300 was there but sort of hidden. Thanks for challenging me. Hope to meet you when I move back home. Best regards, Bill |

I pass by a BMW dealership at least twice a day on my usual routes...so I stop by there on my Buell. The sales rep tries to basically sell me on BMW explaining how much better, more advanced, engineered, and reliable it is compared to my antiquated (as he put it) engined baby! For shame. He did offer me a test ride...but I think I'll pass. Those things look ugly and ungainly. The Replica is nice, though...but not for $13,000! Too much bike (mass) and too much dough. |

Greg: I thought the Tuono was ugly until I saw one at the show and it changed my mind. Rick/ Ray: I rode a real sweet R1100S hoping to find a stable mate for Stripe'r but it didn't have the guts or go that my Buell has. WHat did peak my interest was a short ride on an ST1300. It would be in my garage along side Stripe'r tomorrow, but it would cost me a divorse first. Anyway it's time for sleep, later all. Neil S. |

Sunday morning is always so cool in New York City. . . I miss the Marina del Ray sunsets, but I get the pleasure much earlier in the day now. Just a glimpse at New York City this morning. Court

Rick, Welcome to Central Florida. I'm next door to you in Winter Haven. The area everyone is talking about, I believe is in Poinciana. Last word, was that the cops were running the bikers out. I got that from a Sheriff's deputy that used to ride his CBR out there. He was pretty pissed about it too. Well, If I see a black and red S1 around I'll stop and say Hi. I'm riding a red (tail) and blue (rest of bike) m2 wannabe s1 looking bike. Enjoy the weather and if you find some nice back roads, let me know- I haven't found a whole lot if any yet. CCS/Formula USA Releases Tentative 2003 Schedule __________________________________________________________ Seeing this, I sent the following email to my "contact" at the mother ship: I'm not trying to be negative here, but what is the reasoning behind having the BRAG event at Daytona from March 4 to the 8th, when the Formula USA races will be the weekend before (Feb 28-Mar2)? There will be a lot more Dealer sponsored Buell race teams at Daytona for the FUSA weekend than for the following weekend when the AMA races there, featuring that BMW spec class that Erik is so "upset" about. Has any consideration been given to "extend" the BRAG event to include the Formula USA races? I'm making plans on being there for Formula USA, but not for the AMA races, hopefully I can convice a lot of people to come with me that weekend, then we can have more BUELL people there than BMW owners willl show up the following weekend! If we could get a "Buell Grandstand" like we did at Pocono, and FILL it, and get some TV coverage showing how many Buellers are there, we might prove a point about the "popularity" of Buell racing. Let me know what you think and if you need any help. |

Well Kevin...I've had a few people tell me about seemingly secret locations nearby...but they never seem to know exactly where it is. Typical conversation: Them "Some of us would go on a group ride weekends...45 minutes on the highway...a few minutes after the exit...whoah...there's hills and turns everywhere!" Me "Where is this!" Them "Uhhh...I don't remember exactly" That BMW dealer told me the twins used dual overhead cams...by the way. I knew it had a high cam arrangement of some sort...but it sure isn't a DOHC! It's damn hard to find any technical info on those engines. I've seen two other Buells in this area...an S1WL and an X1. Both sound nice but are quieter than mine . You see a lot of chickenstrip and flat spots out here. Disgusting. I'm starting to get the FFS (Florida Flat Spot) myself. |

I was going through my PC hard drive this morning and archiving pictures that I have taken from my traveling days and came across this picture that I took on 7/10/01 while doing a software install in Manhattan. I thought the steer horns were great; I need some for my S3T! Court, you know by chance what has happened to this engine and the brave people that severed on it? Jim

Just a minor correction,Jim,but that rig is not an engine and those boys would be insulted if you referred to it as one.Notice that large ladder device up top? That rig is a TRUCK company, and "truckies" get real angry getting referred to as engine co. boys.(two of my brothers are truckies--the poor lads.I happen to be a hose weenie.) |

And if any of you folks ever make it out to CA bay area and want a ride on a fire ENGINE give me an e-mail or a ring(phone #'s are in rider assistance section) and I'll take you for a ride. |

Jim, I stand corrected! Thanks for pointing that out too me. I use to be a wildland firefigher for the feds for about 11 years, we called everything engines. |

Hose weenie is the term of endearment truckies refer to engine co members by.We carry fire hose into fire so---.Of course all truck co members are knuckle-dragging-mouth-breathers bent on destruction with a collective i.q. of about 4.Its kinda like the on going war between Harley riders and Buell riders, each belittles the others' choices.Mostly in fun. |

FMJ... Too Funny! Are you also the guys that attack the home indiscriminately with an axe? In the early 70's when I bought a home in Iowa the seller (a Fireman) advised that in that town I tackle (he actually said shoot) the first fireman approaching the home with an axe. He claims they had an affinity for hacking your house up even before they got inside to access the situation. Duh...Must have been a small town thing, eh? |

Neil, I haven't seen the Tuono "in the flesh" yet but I have a hard time believing I would like it. Also calling the Tuono a naked bike is kind of calling someone wearing only tar and feathers naked. They may not be wearing clothes but their nakedness is pretty well disguised. JQ, "I'm not trying to be negative here, but..." Some things just seem to come naturally. Having a BRAG event during Bikeweek isn't just about watching Buells race. I've always enjoyed ProThunder races but won't quit watching motorcycle races just because there aren't any Buells in them. Saw the Tuono at Laguna Seca and was completely unimpressed. The textures of some of the carbon fiber and the seat were fugly. Nevco, those aforementioned truckies are the axe wielding maniacs(and chainsaws). You know, take out front door before checking to see if its unlocked. |

Quote:March 10 – Buell Pro Thunder Finals – 11:30AM – Daytona International Speedway
That's like voting on November 6th! That's a Monday this year, the Daytona 200 is on Sunday the 9th this year. Last year the event was from March 5-10. I think that's pasted from last year's Schedule by mistake. Greg, The BRAG events for the last few years Daytona Bikeweek basically revolved around the AMA race weekend at the Speedway and featured a BRAG Hospitality tent at the Speedway, Battletrax across from the Speedway, the gokart races featuring Erik and the Pro Thunder racers, Buell demo rides and Erik Buell autograph session at the speedway, etc... There won't be any Pro Thunder Buells at the track during the AMA weekend this year, unless there in fact will be one or two Buell race teams running in the AMA Superstock (formerly 750) class on Friday the 7th of March. Otherwise you'll get to see the BMW's and a bunch of dirt trackers, 600's, offroad bikes and the Superbikes that weekend. So if you want to "support and cheer on" all the dealer sponsored Buell race teams, you want to be at the Speedway March 1-2, not March 7-9. |

Yep, there are a few good Aprilia dealers around the country, my local one just sucks ass. The Area Rep knows it too. Talked to him about it. Scuderia, Boudry's, MotoTeck, BlacnkMan's and Corse are all good ones. Aprilia is working HARD to get supply side problems solved. They are jsut working at an Italian pace to get it done. |

Rick A Try the Sugar Loaf Mountain area. West of Orlando on SR 50 on the west shore of Lake Apopka. Some of the best twistees in central FL and the mtn(?) is one of the three highest elevations in the state (nice view of the lake). FTD |
