First, excuse my english... i'm french speaking from Québec, Canada. Here in Montréal they offer a 2008 1125r for $4000 ($10900 against $14000) less than a 2009. I'm interrested in a 1125r but I'm a bit lazy and don't want problem ( I'm with Honda ...no problemo!!) . Does the problems of 2008 can be fix correctly and be a good choice for this price? Thanks |

Most issues have been fixed by the factory recalls. The bike is fine as is, but the 2009 is a little better. You could always negotiate some of the updates into the price. Here is what you will need to make it perfect: Replacement Turnsignals- DIY, Warranty Some of these have been going dead. If yours do, dealer will order and replace free. Rear Swingarm spools - DIY http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/437434.html?1235224863 2009 Electronic Cluster http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/429698.html?1232555041 2009 Targeted Fuel Injectors http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/421171.html?1233316689 Updated ECM , or a dyno tune. This is only needed if you order the 2009 targeted injectors. Buell hasn't released the 2009 ECM fuel mapping as an upgrade for the 2008 bikes. If they do, OR IF YOU CAN CONVINCE YOUR DEALER TO BURN THE 2009, THEN IT"S FREE. Otherwise tuning is your option. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/435480.html?1235244553 |

Sure, you can get it in white, but for the $$ that could be saved on an 08 would be MORE than enough to buy the white plastics and still have $$ left over. |

You'll also need to relocate the O2 sensors. I'd go for the '09 to minimize the hassle and lingering doubt. |

Wasn't relocation of O2 sensors just to prolong life? If so, O2 sensors are fairly cheap, so I'd leave them where they are. Wait, I just wrote that like I was speaking hypothetically. I will not be relocating my O2 sensors, as there is no evidence of any good reason to do so. |

There is nothing wrong with the 08's as they stand now. The money you save you can get yourself leathers and tires. you will need lots of tires. O2 sensors, who needs them any way. |

My opinion: If you are looking at the R, the 2008's represent an extraordinary value at this time. Make sure all the reflash updates are performed by the dealer, and the rest of it is pretty minor. Either way, pull the trigger and you will not regret it! Have fun, and welcome to the family. Rob (Message edited by carbonbigfoot on February 23, 2009) |

As soon snow and ice are gone... in 3-4 weeks here in Montréal...I'm at my dealer, I will go for the 2008. I hope I will have good money for my vfr2006! Someone interrested??. And the money will go on... a Jardine muffler. I'have already leathers and all the rest! Normand |
