Hey how's it going ladies and gents? Good here! I have been really wanting to get a Buell for a few years now, and I think I am finally set to. I have been to the dealership and have sat on the both '09 XB12SCG and XB12Ss. Curious if someone has a report of the gas mileage with the '09's? Also, could you share a little of your initial experience with the bike? Thank you! Craig |

I've had my 09 Ss since August. It had some issues with the EVA at first that took the HD dealer and HD tech services about a month to figure out (because no one knew anything about the 09's at that time). After that was straight, no more problems and I've been a happy man since. There was also a recall for some ground strap that needed to be moved. No mods, bone stock. Approaching 5k miles now... average mpg is mid-low 40's. (Message edited by saratoga on February 17, 2009) |

I have a cherry bomb red 2009 scg that I picked up in November of 08. I have not had a single problem with it. It is a very fun bike. My fuel mpg is around 42. I have an K&N filter, bar end mirrors, and chopped tail. |

09ss here since july not a single problem (knock on wood). Fuel mileage started out around 35mpg and now after 2000mi it gets 45 to 50mpg depending on how I ride. I absolutely love the bike. |

I have an '09 XB12Scg, but with the S seat (the Scg seat sucks!!! and was too low for me)... yes, I should have gotten the S from the get go, but they only had the Scg available at the time and they offered the S seat for free (swap).... Anyway, about your questions, I LOVE MY XB!!! heh... and gas mileage has been slowly improving for me as I pile the miles on the engine (5k now). I started at 105miles to the reserve using 3 Galons of gas (35mpg), and I am now getting 120miles for 3 gallons (40mpg). Of course I ride pretty hard all the time, so I am sure I could get 45-50mpg if I were to mellow out a bit (cant do it)... actually, I got 45mpg one time when riding on the freeway only... but even there I like to open up heh Just get one! you`ll love it...

I have a 09 XB12R. I have only just done first ride day which was 500km and ended with a Yellow check engine light showing however it is running perfect so not overly bothered at this stage. I completed some modifications to it before riding whilst I still had my last bike. Have installed Convertibars, Knight Design footpegs, Oberon mirrors and Dark Horse Moto mirror block off plates. Also put my trusty Air Hawk seat pad on. Very pleased with the way these changes worked out - now a very comfy sport tourer which was my aim. This 09 XB is a HUGE improvement over my first Buell which was the original XB9S model. Interested to hear how many miles/kilometres I might expect from the Corsa III tyres? |

There's no STT for 09 either. (well technically not, but it resides in Ss clothing). (Message edited by saratoga on February 18, 2009) |

And wavex it's not a S seat you got there it's a cityx seat. Just that I do have the S seat on my cg and it's very similar to the cg just a bit more padding where your got a lot more padding and is probably more comfy but I just didn't like that look. |

Js_buell: interesting! I never noticed the difference until you mentioned it When I did the swap @ the HD dealership, he went in the back and returned with this one saying it was an S, but it's definitely not... I agree it looks a little chunkier, but man is it comfy! Cheers |

Yep it look comfy, my dealer had ordered the same instead of my S seat and when I got it I tough of keeping it but I just didn't like the look that's just a question of taste there was already the fact that I couldn't get a S so there was no way I was going to settle down for more lol |

That was going to be my first question about the mileage. How do you ride? My '03 gets about 40-45, but I tend to twist my wrist a lot for some reason when I ride it. |

"In what ways is the 09 and improvement over your original XB9S?" Well IMO: Better engine fueling and throttle response. Much smoother. More positive gear engagement. Improved clutch pull. More powerful front brake. Improved belt and belt guards. Better tool kit. No TPS reset needed. |
