Well I found this talking about changes for the 2009 season. First paragraph says coming soon from BMW and Buell. Looks like a fun racing class also. http://www.450moto.net/About.php |

The person that wrote the press release was probably basing what they wrote on old info (when the 450 dirt bike program was still active). It happens all the time. I for one would love to see a Buell 450 dirt bike and/or motard. |

Buell shelved it because of changes in the AMA racing class for the bike.... Dont even get me started. |

I'm with you Cityxslicker..... for those out of the loop the long and short of it.....Both Buell and Aprillia announced a a v-twin liquid 450 (ROTAX) mx'r that had hp that made the current 450 mx'r class look like alfafa from the little rascals... Noooooooooooooo the AMA can't have a bike other than Yamazusaki be dominant.... So the AMA immediately passed a rule banning v twins from AMA Pro Motocross (to keep costs down) Let me get this right, to keep costs down in PRO racing??? So the current crop of 450 four strokes are cheaper than a 450 2 stroke ??????????... It's all on the web and 100% factual , just google it...don't get ME started... If you want to see the motor that was slated for the MX bike look at a CAN-AM DS 450 quad. That is the motor that WAS slated for the bike. That motor is the BALLS. |

Yes got to ride it at launch (I'm a rotax nut). I can't imagine that motor in a motocross bike. Sweetest motor I ever rode.... |

Sigh. Easy to plate a dirt bike here in Ohio, and the XB9 is paid off. Shame there isn't a Buell dirtbike haunting me now that I am outgrowing the suspension on my KLR-250. |

gawd if I had the money, time and wrenchin skills I would so STRIP a can am 450 quad and put a dirt set of forks on it, and asingle rear wheel. I just dont see why Buell could not have outsourced the plant and the chasis core and assembled the rest in house with the magic elves at E Troy. f'n f-itty f'n f eff eff |

Cityx I think the old saying "race on Sunday sell on Monday" comes into play. If the AMA keeps cowtowing to the Jap brands and keeps v-twin 450's out of the rule book it won't change . No one will tool up and make a bike that never sees the podium. If the AMA changes their rules (which of course will mean Yamaha comes up and says hey we want to build a vtwin), then you may see it. It's a crying shame the jap bikes are so scared of competition and the AMA is so p*ss* whipped by them. Now my personal belief , having dealt for 25 years with these companies is there are 450 twin mx'rs running all over Osaka Japan and after the bugs get worked out you will see a 2010 Yamaha yzv 450f. And mysteriously in the dark of night the rule book will change... (Message edited by widowmaker2011 on February 13, 2009) |

nope, in an unscientific poll here, I asked the very same question. Does Race on Sunday buy on Monday matter. Overwhelming response was nope. everyone was looking for a good deal on a capable bike that they could ride .... But what the hell do I know, |

Mark, don't waste your time with the 17" wheels. Just get a regular DRZ400s and thrash it. I'll have to put a good pic of mine up here. NUTS |

MX is not the only place where 'what win's on Sunday, sells on Monday.' Anyone here follow hare scrambles or enduros????? KTM is THE brand to beat at those venues. (Now I have to check the rules and see if a twin is allowed in an enduro or hare scramble....) Anyways..... I would LOVE to see the small twins set up and TUNED for enduros. Much easier to dual sport an enduro motor than a fire-breathing MX motor. Tom B |
