Rocketsprink... how many times do you think he would have done that jump if he wasn't getting (a) money and (b) attention? I guess since he chose that field to make a living in, I would imagine he's done it countless times. Are you saying you do nothing that involves risk? You ride a motorcycle, do you not? Lot's of people think that it's a "dangerous sport." Will that stop you from riding? I'm not getting into a pissing match here. His choice. It was his life. I think it is in horrible taste to post some of the things that were posted above. If you don't like it, don't watch or support it. But who the hell are we to pass judgment on what he did? |

Hex, i moved from public view your post with the pic of the crash. you're entitled to your opinion, and certainly entitled to voice your opinion here, but in my opinion posting a photo of someone losing their life is in bad form. please don't do this again. regards, Ferris, janitor |

maybe so, but he's said nothing to warrant custodial action, in my opinion. FB |

There was no lingering painful end, he was in a medically induced coma which was a measure of mercy. Shock and pain would have killed him much sooner otherwise. I doubt he was more than semi-conscious from the moment of impact until the end. |

Hex, I did think of one positive that came from his death. Maybe other riders in the sport will see what can happen and re-evaluate what they're putting on the line. Sure riding is dangerous, racing is more dangerous, but ramping your motorcycle 40ft into the air and doing the tricks that they do is just cheating death. What happened wasn't so much sad as inevitable. Personally, it's like a smoker dying from lung cancer, sure its sad but part of me is just saying "stupid, stupid, stupid, why did you do that?" Having had two pretty major brain traumas in 5 years of racing, I can say with certainty that he didn't suffer. He wasn't aware of or processing the information as it was happening. |

i didnt think this post would get this much attention. First. i am a southern cali native. who used to do this kinda thing. and when your out doing what you LOVE TO DO you take on risks. this was his life. it was his job and his passion. so if he died from doing what he loves to do then i say "RIP brother, you have done many great things for this sport." this is not some stupid kid, ACTING CRAZY. these guys risk their lives same as any other sport or extreme sport for the entertainment and joy of others. just my two thoughts. most of you think that FMX is crazy, and stupid. hell most say riding a bike period is crazy. if its your time. its your time. nothing will stop it. you can live the most careful life possible. and not take any risks. and then die in your living room choking on an apple all alone.(my grandfather)RIP. so i say take this quote i've heard and share it. "The object of life is not to arrive at the grave in a well preserved body. but to arrive in a worn out body, sliding sideways. SCREAMING, HOLY SHIT WHAT A RIDE" thats me. |

Vincent Haskovec is completely disabled and his life his dreams and everthing he loved was taken from him in one race two seasons ago. He has huge bill's that cannot be paid. He is to my understanding living a very depressed life that counseling and antidepressents help aid in day to day functions. Jeremy on the other hand lost his life to what he loved second to his wife and family. Now he's the first I've heard of losing his life. We had a well known WSB racer Craig Jones lose his life last year. These things will happen. They know it everytime they swing a leg over the seat. They also help in aiding us with products to make our hobby and passions safer for us to enjoy. They do this and then entertain us with jaw dropping excitement. So to jeremy I say... Thank You,for what you have brought to our sport and Godspeed. May you be jumping the clouds in the sky. (Message edited by bads1 on February 12, 2009) |

RIP and Godspeed! Hey Hex you disrespectful PRICK, you never did anything for the thrill of it? I believe that is what motorcycling is all about. You take a risk every time you hop on that bike. God forbid anything ever happens to you while riding your Buell, you would be eligible for a Darwin also! Get bent!! Schmitty |

A squid, paid or not, is still a SQUID. My opinion stands: If you want to get paid to perform public suicide...DON'T DO IT ON MY BELOVED MOTORCYCLE! ps, my lady calls this place BLabWeB |

First, my heart goes out to his family and friends... That said, why don't we have gladiator fights to the death any longer? Did our fore fathers decide that the loss or taking of a life for sport, is not acceptable in an enlightened society? So do all who watch that sport and contribute to the kid's $$$ and adoration, bear blame for enticing a young man to 'play Russian Roulette' with his life? He may have been well aware of the risks/rewards involved with his chosen profession, but it was corporate TV, sponsors, and ultimately we the viewers who double dog dared him to perform such a high risk maneuver. On the other hand, if you had told him two years ago that he could achieve crazy fame and fortune, (far beyond his normal working expectations) via competitive jumping, but his life would end prematurely at some point - would he still have done it? |

I dont care how he has passed, its too young to go out. A shame in the most tenuous sense. I had a conversation with Jeremy at one such forum. Very unassuming and a true gentleman to talk to. I can say, he did go doing what he loved. He spoke of the fans adoringly and they were alot of motivation for him. Sad when we bicker over why and lose sight of whats been lost. RIP Little J. I say this knowing I would fight and die in any battle to preserve the right for our freedoms so many of us take for granted. |

I can't believe what I am reading here! A fellow motorcyclist dies doing what he loved and people are questioning him for it? This isn't about his choice of profession, it's about someone's deceased family member for God's sake! Have a little respect. It seems to me that each and every one of us takes a calculated risk and plays a bit of Russian roulette every time we get on our beloved Buells. Some words to live by: Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy shit...what a ride!" Schmitty |

I can't believe that some people are actually criticizing this kids passion ! There is no doubt in my mind that this kid grew up riding dirt bikes doing wheelies and jumps etc. having no expectation of fame and fortune. This kid was a wildman, displaying the balls that very few have. He lived for the rush. He died for it to. There is also no effing way he could do that for a living if he didn't really enjoy it. It aint like he was pumping gas, a job anyone can do even if you hate it. Think about all the things you wanted to do in the past but were to chicken to try. I'll bet his kids list was empty as he doesn't seem too chicken to try anything. Sorry for his family as I'm sure they are hurting and will be for a long while. I also didn't get to see the video wich pisses me off as I'm sure that this kid would've wanted it to be out there. I certainly hope that if there is footage of my demise it will be on you-tube for all to see. Unless it's just me rotting away in a nursing home, that would just be boring. As for Hex's opinions and posts, so what if you don't like them or agree with them. The censoring of thought is a far more distastefull than any distastefull thought may be. So where can I see the video ? (Message edited by skinstains on February 13, 2009) |

I completely don't agree with Hex's viewpoint, but I defend his ability to voice it. I believe you are wrong Hex in the same way that I believe your viewpoint is wrong in light of Evel Knievel or Harry Houdini or any other entertainer. He had a skill doing stunts on a bike and people wanted to watch. That interest by the public afforded him a life (and lifestyle) that he would be unable to obtain otherwise. That said, were there no one watching, would he still do the stunts he did? Probably. Same for those who do track days and ride on the street. There is no trophy. There is no monetary prize. Yet, we still do it. We run the risk every day that when we leave the garage, we won't come back simply by riding. Squid or not. I don't think there are any more "kids" trying these stunts because of Lusk than would have been otherwise. |

I absolutely agree with his right to his opinion. I just don't think this was the time or the place! This was a thread to pay respect to the deceased. And Hex comes in to basically piss on the guy's grave! Completely inappropriate! At this point I would have seen fit to keep it to myself out of respect. Hex, what if this was one of your family members? Wouldn't you want people to respect the deceased? The whole point of my posts is TACT! Here's a definition for ya: tact (noun) a keen sense of what to say or do to avoid giving offense; skill in dealing with difficult or delicate situations. Next time USE SOME! Schmitty |
