Just thought I would throw my $0.02 into the pot here.

I got a used XB9r that came with Braking pads, front and rear; they had absolutely no feel and only limited stopping power.

After reading the many threads on brake pads here, I went with EBC FA345-HH pads on the front with Lyndall Golds on the rear.

Unbelievable improvement!!!

I prefer strong front brakes with good initial bite; I can attest that the EBC's have very linear response, with excellent feedback with respect to lever pressure versus power. And not wanting too much bite on the rear, the Lyndalls provide fantastic linear feel and performance given the short rear lever range.

I highly recommend this brake pad combo.

Why not the Lyndall's on the front also?

The EBC's seem to have a slightly stronger initial bite; that quick feedback increases my confidence in emergency/performance situations. Even after fully bleeding the front brake system, it always seems a bit spongy; the strong bite from the EBC pads was a perfect offset so that the overall feel is well balanced.

The Lyndalls don't seem to bite with the same intensity (but have good linear action); this is why I like them on the rear. That system has always felt like a light switch; either on or off. The action of the Lyndalls really helps improve rear brake feel and performance, and I don't have any lock-up fears.
