Ok, like most of you I have decided that the OEM mirrors on my new CR provide a TERRIBLE rearward view so I am looking at alternatives. I want to put some bar end mirrors on and so now need to figure out what sort of front signals to use. Has anyone tried to mount up a set of OEM rear signals, possible using a fork-mounted bracket like this?

I've looked at a bunch of different aftermarket LEDs but I really like the idea of a matching set.

Thank you in advance.

John

I put a 1.5" convex (blind spot mirrors) on the big side of the mirror
I can see quite a bit but not a flat image. I use a head check for that

That is the plan for my R. I will mount the short stalks to the block off plate and drill a third hole through the fairing. I'll post some photos as soon as it is finished. I am waiting on the block offs from Dark Horse to finish the job.
It was great to get rid of the monster mirrors which were not functional for me. I rode the bike today with my new bar end mirrors and loved it.

Hooliagn - I actually think that looks darn good! Can you explain how you mounted them? And how much did the turn signals cost?

Thanks.

I mounted them to the black plastic part of the light/windscreen assembly. I drilled two hole,(each side) and used the stock hardware. They cost about $90 for the two oem units......

I hope that you don't mind but I'm going to copy your turn signal mounting! Thank you for the info.

By the way, what are you doing for mirrors? I am looking at some Triumph Speed Triple factory accessory bar-ends and wondering if they'll work.

By all means.......No patents on that...:-)

As for my mirrors, this is what I did.
This is not for everyone so if you try it proceed at your own risk.

Now, this works well for me.
I can see what I need to see behind and on the side of me.
The only thing i'm going to change about the mirrors are the size.
They are currently 2" diameter, I will change them to 3" in the near future.

Wow, what an unusual setup you have there! It is very clean looking.

I'm looking at these (and hoping I can find them cheaper):

Yeah, I still have the stock clubmans. So I'm going to need new bar-ends to mount those mirrors up (Al at American Sport Bike sells some that might work). I'm going to try to get everything ordered this week.

It's just money, right? Ugh.

If you use those Triumph mirrors, you will have to move your controls to the center a half-inch.
Dunno if you have room on the clubmans.
There's just enough to try on an "R" tho.
>edit? I suppose you could buy or make an adapter that would give you a shelf for the mirror and mount on the inside of the bar.<>

Those mirrors clamp on the outside of the bar.
I move my grips all the way to center in Winter - warmer hands...

Jjk-
Do they wobble or rotate in their mounts?

They look pretty natural up there- good job!

DS Tiger - that's not my bike! After a very helpful phone call with Al at American Sportbike, I ordered some bar-end adapters that are originally made for CRG mirrors and I am hoping that they will work with the rectangular Triumph mirrors I found on ebay (try 'Triumph Speed Mirror').

LOL@ DS about Dora

As far as wobble & rotating, are you talking about the mirrors or the turn signals ?

The turn signals don't rotate because there is the main screw bolt and a secondary built in pin to keep them from rotating - I never noticed if they wobble. They are firmly mounted and moving with my hand is not easy.
The mirrors don't do either but keep in mind that I only have 56 miles on the bike.

i see you have taken off your belt guard im afraid of getting stuff caught on the bottom side and screw the belt up,

you have taken the rear reflector off but left the front ones on which are probably the easiest to take off, they are just double sided taped on.

I'll probably put the belt guards back on once the weather changes and I start riding the bike.
The front reflectors don't bother me nearly as much as the rear did.

If you were real creative you could use them as front running lights. Throw in a relay or two and you have it made. NEVER enough lighting, front or rear, to keep the cagers from infringing on our well-being!
