I had the Uly out for a spell yesterday and decided to take it down a bridle path. It was warm so the top layer of ground melted into a nice slick mud that was covering hard frozen dirt beneath. I almost dropped it twice when the front end washed out. The rear was all over the place but that's good old fashioned fun. This ride required a stand up position and a flexible grip on the bars and is where I noticed the weight of this bike. It aint my old XT 350 by a long shot. I hope I didn't buy the wrong bike for my North American adventure that I'm planning on doing this summer. That would mean I have to buy another bike and my garage is already bursting at the seams. So what is the most aggressive off road tire I can get for the 17" hoops ?

Pretty sure it is the Pirelli MT 60.

Not much is good on ice. My wr250f if very hard to keep up on ice, and I think slicks would work better. I actually think when you stand up the low center of gravity on the Uly makes it seem much lighter than it is.

You can get some Metzler off road type tires like they use on the BMW GS bikes. They are the KAROO and SAHARA tires. They may be a little narrow but they are 17 inch. Check them out.

And a second thought if you know somebody that races sprint cars on dirt tracks borrow their tire grooving iron and widen the grooves & cut in some additional new groves in a new set of standard Uly tires.
