Nascar drivers and Colin Edwards kick arse in Europe rally car championship racing
Quote:Team USA’s Jimmie Johnson (NASCAR), Colin Edwards (WSB) and Jeff Gordon (NASCAR) won the fourth Michelin Race of Champions Nations’ Cup at the Circuit Ciudad Deportiva Islas Canaries in Telde, Gran Canaria of the Canary Islands Saturday, November 30. Team USA beat out Team Italy’s Marco Melandri (FIM 250cc Grand Prix Champion), Fabrizio Giovanardi (2002 European Touring Car Champion) and Renato Travaglia (Rally Cars?) in the final round, three heats to two. ... Gordon beat Giovanardi head-to-head...
Makes an American darn Proud. |

Maybe if Collin doesn't do well with Aprilla, he'll go rally car.Kinda sucks!! what happened with HONDA. |

If you remember, when Collin was starting to get the good rides, nobody thought he would be a contender because he was too tall and lanky. Have the feeling the ergo's on the Aprillia will suit him much better and my crystal ball (sorry Blake) forecasts one helluva great season for him! Bill |

I get tired of critics slamming the nascar drivers. Saying they are not athletes, & just know how to floor it & go left. Most of those guys are in awesome shape & would kick any of our asses in any endurance test. This just a small sample of the skill some of those guys have. |

I actually had the chance to run some laps at Chicagoland in a Winston Cup car with a driving instructor next to me. They actually let us go up to 165mph (not Winston Cup speed but certainly not slow) and ever since then I've been able to silence any critics pretty quickly with one statement - Until you've done it, don't tell me how easy you think it is. |

rallyes are the best . . .. . . nascar drivers are as skilled as any other motorsports folks, no doubt . . . . . it's just a shame to see nascar take over the airwaves the way it has . . . .ah well, survival of the fittest |

He who has the biggest cheering section controls the venue, works in politics, works in racin', sometimes anyway. |

yessir . . . .. you got it . . .. .. between drag racing and nascar, the tv doesn't seem to know any other form of motorsports . . . . . doesn't make either of them bad, of course, just not my favorites (rallyes being kinda tough to televise) |

The Speed Channel has answered it all for me. Rallys, motorcycles, SCCA, touring cars, F3000, etc. Very cool. |

I still hate NASCAR; however, I respect anyone who can even finish a Rally like that... |

Tony Stewart said after recently winning a couple of sprint car races that it was nice to be out of the taxi cabs and in some real race cars. Im a Stewart fan and was amused by this. I think that a lot of these guys have the skill to win in any motor series, they just go where the money is. |

Groundscrew, I follow NASCAR, only because of the open wheel drivers that are now there. I remember seeing Tony compete in many USAC events, and always puting on a good show. I also remember Gordon winning the Belleville National on his eightenth birthday. This was on the worlds fastest halfmile dirttrack in the world which happens to be located in Belleville, KS. The show he put on that night was no less than spectacular. It is a high banked dirt track and he was throwing sparks off the ArmCo almost all the way around the track. It was a great night. I can't blame them for going o where the money is either, but the memories of their dirt track days will live in my mind forever. Ray |

Ray, Best racing I have ever seen live was the Outlaws. Brickyard was neat, but not nearly as exciting. My opinion may change after Bristol in spring. Wish they would let the Nascar boys race on dirt once a year (in open wheel cars) Boy that would be a must see. I'm sure Gordon and Stewart and a few others would put on a show. Matt |

I love to watch NASCAR--when they're at Watkins Glen, and when they're at Sears Point. Not to take anything away from the drivers or crews, but watching cars go around in circles just doesn't do it for me... |

I love the Rally Racing. We just had one of the best Tarmac Rally here in Sept 2002 and was a giant success, some of the drivers commented how our roads were so technical (twisty, twisty, twisty). It is going to be here for the next five years, I think. Did I mention our roads are Twisty?????? Here is the link check this out Targa Newfoundland |
