I started a thread about this little road trip we are taking in 14 days. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/426577.html The evening of the 19 we should be arriving in Nashville TN with our truck with 2 bikes in the back. Our plan is to unload there and spend the night. Starting the morning of the 20th, ride roughly 450 miles a day, down through Georgia, Florida, loop around and return on a different path, back to Nashville on the evening of the 25. As the date gets closer, and we can somewhat predict the weather, we are going to get a rough plan of where we plan to ride. Im just throwing out an open invite to anyone who might be interested in joining us for a leg of the trip or even the whole trip. I would love to meet up with some Buellers along the way. If you are along our driving route on the way down and have a trailer, I could hook up and haul you down to Nashville also. I have a hitch and cab space available. |

Well if you make it to central North Carolina, holler. Plenty of space and can offer tools, trailer, etc..Warm food and cold brews. Could build a bon fire if weather permits. Don't forget to print your BRAN and have it with you. |

Holy crap! I figured mabey one or two people would post up. Our riding route is south. Im kidding in case that wasnt clear. Friday we would like to head south out of Nashville on 24 into Georgia on 75. We hope to make it to Valdosta GA by friday evening. Depending on how our butts are feeling we want to continue on 75 down to the east side of the Everglades. This would be Saturday evening. Sunday morning across Alligator alley to Miami area and depending on time we may ride down to the keys. After that up the east coast on 95 stopping in Flagger Beach I believe. The other guy Im riding with Dan, his grandparents live there. Side note: Dan is being deployed to Iraq on March 2nd. Monday up the east coast to Savannah Ga and start working our way across to Suches. We wanted to keep Suches at the end of our ride like a goal of sorts. Also we have been off our our bikes for 4 months and didnt think it wise to jump right into the twisties. Wednsday evening we need to be back in Nashville. That should keep most of our days under 500 miles which leaves more time each day to enjoy ourselves. Thats 8 hours or less of actual riding, 8 hours chillin and 8 hours sleepin. These are rough plans that may be changed depending on the weather we encounter or any other unforseen problem. We have no actual destination we have to make just goals. go over monteagle mountain twice Coming back to Chattanooga from Nashville Sunday, we got off I-24 at the bottom and went up 41 to Monteagle, and Tracy City and down the mountain to Jasper (had to stop at Foster Falls of course)and then over Suck Creek. Not much longer and much more interesting. (Big trucks on I-24 Monteagle are scary.) Both of us heartsick cause we were in a MINI VAN!!(oh the shame)It was lots more fun last time on the bikes. If you're not needing to scream on through, listen to Mr Barker, I'll bet he knows the best way. I probably won't be able to ride Friday, but if you happen through Chattanooga(I'm on the far East side) around lunch time (or supper time[coming or going], I'll poke a burger or something down your throat and send you on your way. Those way North GA guys are just down the road. If you miss here entirely, that's okay, but I think it's a BadWeB requirement that you post up (or check in with a BadWeber who can) your progress along the way. We all WANT to go you know! If you're not needing to scream on through, listen to Mr Barker, I'll bet he knows the best way. Im guessin a lot of people know some great off tracks. Our trip is certainly not written in stone and all the roads mentioned were the basic direction we plan to take. Off shoots are usually longer but if they are worth it we wont mind at all. Thanks for the tip on 41. Sounds interesting and I will add it to our run. |

Stop by Bumpus Harley-Davidson, Buell in Murfreesboro. We are just about 30 miles south of Nashville just off I-24. I will have some fresh coffee available and a good map showing some really good routes heading south. I might be able to tag along for a few miles. |

IMHO it is more about quality than quantity on a trip for "fun". I have done the 75 slab to Tampa and it is boooooring and laborious to ride even with the fast guys at 90 mph. I did a 600 mile each way trip to Northern Pa last year. Slabbed up and secondary and old main roads back. So much more relaxed and enjoyable on the way back. If the ride is about the journey and not so much a fixed destination I make plans for a 'next' ride to cover where I didn't get, in my time frame. |

While I dont put much faith in a 15 day forcast's accuracy, friday looks grim so far. Rainy and 41 as a high? http://www.accuweather.com/us/tn/nashville/37201/f orecast-15day.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=1&z ipChg=1&metric=0 We have an extra day wedged into the trip to use in case we need to. If it is going to be that cold we may do more scenic things in the tennesee area such as go to lookout mountain and see the waterfall in the chattanoga area. bran should be first on the list of things to pack. are you going to detail your route on a map. Bran is already packed with the map. We are not going into any more detail than I have already posted with the map because we are completely open to change. If we can meet up with someone here by altering our times a little I want to be able to do that. I think even if someone was willing to meet and ride a 100 mile leg of the trip it would be pretty cool. I think it's a BadWeB requirement that you post up (or check in with a BadWeber who can) your progress along the way. We all WANT to go you know! A am going to get a new phone tomorrow. Im hoping I will be able to post from it. If I meet up with any badwebers I can pass pics along if they know how. |

IMHO it is more about quality than quantity on a trip for "fun". We originally wanted to ride to the Florida keys, and still do if were enjoying it. Since then we have heard that its not as great as it sounds. We very well might scale back the miles a little. |

the only thing i know right now is next saturday we're signed up to test ride the canam spider down at barney's in brandon where we live which is right off of 75 about 1/2 mile. i'll have to check with the wife when i talk to her tomorrow as to what time we're scheduled for it. depending on what time you leave you might be ready for lunch by the time you get to brandon. if so, give me a call. numbers in the bran. and depending on what time you get to alligator ally, you might want to avoid it if you'll be going through at night. unless you already know what to expect. |

forcast's accuracy Ain't no tellin'. The last couple of nights have been in the low teens and twentys. Wed, I don't think ever made it up to freezing, yesterday finally hit 39 or so. This weekend is supposed to be in the sixtys. We had our biggest rememberable blizzard right in the middle of March. You just never know. see the waterfall
here's one!
good place for a picnic That reminds me, I've got to get my water fall ride in the Home Town section. I'm so far behind. } |

Barker, are you able to ride on friday? Or should I say willing... I am aware that the forcast is a little on the cool side. XB1200rick, Im guessin we will be in the Chattanooga area Friday early afternoon. If its close to working for you we can stall or speed up our run accordingly to try to make it work. |

Rpm- I'm currently on the "involuntary 3-day weekend" plan right now at work, so Fridays are riding days for me. I can probably meet up and cruise with you a way just for kicks, down through ATL and beyond. Keep us informed...you may have a buell rally started before it's all over! |
