I just bought new tires. At about 50 to 60 mph I now have a whine. It is most noticeable in 5th gear but seems to be speed related. Could new Pilot roads be that noisy? I also re-routed my breather vent line so that it is exiting directly under the left rider footpeg. All of a sudden I have a sort of "fluttering" noise, like the engine has a hole in the muffler...? Can someone comment? I am being serious, this thing has got more sounds than birdland at the zoo. |

check your belt and or rear axle alignment, might be off since the tire change. not sure about the fluttering noise unless it's an exhaust leak. |

Get it up to speed, pull in the clutch and hit the kill switch. Tuck in behind the flyscreen to reduce the wind noise. Then hear what there is to hear. |

Ditto on rear belt alignment. I had the same issue after removing my rear wheel for a tire change. |

Checked the belt. It seems to be right. Exhaust leak next. I will try the shutdown process too. The whine goes away above 60. |

Little curious about this "shut down" process... So what do you do next to fire it back up? Switch to run and release clutch? |

It'd be a lot more fun to release the clutch and wait a minute or 2 to turn the spark back on -- Talk about setting off car alarms -- (Message edited by brokeneck on February 07, 2009) |

"wait a minute or 2 to turn the spark back on" Luckily having a FI bike prevents me from doing things like that! Last time I pulled that was on a suzuki quad, and I never did find all the pieces of the muffler baffle.. |
