Has anyone seen this: Kinda, I guess... But not quite as both vehicles I'm about to show appear to just carry the quad concept over to motorcycles. Neither of them appear to lean like a motorcycle (see the pic of the BMW in action on the website...), but it is not uncommon to see a quad riding/driving on the public streets in Germany. With the light kits available from the manufacturers quads appear to be rather popular forms of transportation in certain areas of Germany. I was surprised when I saw the first one at the Frankfurt Harley-Davidson dealership:
http://www.qtec-engineering.com/ And then I was doubly surprised when I saw this at the Motorrad Messe in Leipzig the following day:
http://www.gg-quad-northamerica.com/ My first thought on seeing the H-D version was that the rolling resistance (especially with such wide tires) would be so great that it would truly be a slug. And we all know the big twin H-D products do not need anything further to slow them down. But to express your individuality... I just stopped by to check in after getting back from Germany last night. I wasn't intending to start posting...yet... 1313 |

Wow! They look pretty outrageous, but I think I would enjoy taking any of those for a spin. I'm finally back in the saddle again. Got both tires changed out today, gave it the detailed yearly cleaning, so that took up the better part of the day. It's also sporting a new look. Wait and see. I'm planning on taking it out for a couple of hours tomorrow for a attitude adjustment. Been too long. |

Tiffany and I rode for 3 1/2 hr today. She had come home from school this weekend. We road down past high rock lake around uwrawie national forest a little and then back home. A great trip and bonding exspearnce. Saw a couple hundred bikes dureing the day. They were mostly harleys and gold wings a couple of trikes and almost no crotch rockets. Still too cold for shorts and flipflops! |

Funny, around here most of the bikes we saw out were sport bikes. Yes the Costume party was on, but more sport bikes than Harleys (Or copies of). Then again I was by an Air Force base so the young crowd was out. We rode about 100+ miles yesterday afternoon and got our Buell tire gauges from Shelton's. I finally put the Uly back together yesterday. Kristi and I took a ride for the first time since the broken belt. Too cold to really ride anyway. All is good except a noise I get now while decelerating. It almost sounds like a gear noise but I believe it's the belt. It is tight, but not as tight as Webe's was. I think everyone that has a motorcycle had it out this weekend. When we came near Jacksonville today I could have sworn that there was a bike week going on. Beautiful day to ride. |

And we all know the big twin H-D products do not need anything further to slow them down... Brankin, not all of us have learned that yet... me 'n D did 70 miles on the Road King Saturday, certainly not "epic," but the longest ride for either of us since last fall. it felt SOOOOOOOOOOO good to be in the wind again! I safely rode 200 miles this weekend. I scuffed the tire with a scotchbright pad friday night with the bike on the stand with tire spinning. I'd say the header got a little warm in the process. I had the engine running for about 10 minutes.

Hugh- sorry I did not know you were coming to the Rally. Pete, Aaron, and myself signed up to marshall the race. What a blast that was, and free food to boot. Saw Mark and Laura and the racing crew for the WRX's. Sorry Laura, I wasn't paying attention when you were screamin at me!!! Had my head wrapped around all that was going on!! Took some cool picks. Nothing like standing 3 feet away from a KTM 980, BMW 1200 blasting by @ 80-100 mph. AND Mike's buddy Bill on the Aprilia 580 was tearing it up. Must be hard to walk with'em that big! If you are going to watch this race it really is worth volunteering for, you get prime seats! 100mph in the sand! WOW can't wait to try it myself! Twig come on know your being like 1313, spill a little something for us would ya. And who needed the attitude adjustment, you or the bike?! |

It was great having you there U4! We partied under the tent till about 12:30. Bill's a true racer; stock cars, sport cars, road race bikes, off road bikes, no matter. He's just plain fast if its got an engine and wheels. |

Jim, you are so right. Bike is now hero blue with a mask/bra on the way. It's what I should have put on the bike to begin with. I really like it. I sent you a few pics. No comment on the attitude, although it's sure nice to have the bike on the road again. |

If only I could B**ch slap stupid people. I worked the auto show that was being held at the convention center. We had 5 Buells there plus the cop uly. We actually had a lot of interest in the Buells from non riders and import riders alike. As I was talking to an import rider that was dressed as a hip hop star, he said something that almost got him slapped. "Can you stretch the 1125R like you can real sportbikes?" After shoving my hands in my pockets I replied, "Yeah, if you want to totally mess up the great handling." Darwinism isn't fast enough for some people. |

Mike - From the 1125R section (stretched and lowered)...
Obviously purpose built for drag racing and not bling factor. The guy who built it is a Buell Tech and does plan to race it. (Message edited by Spectrum on February 10, 2009) |

I know it is being done, but it still doesn't make it right. I just prefer riding on curves more than in a straight line. |

I think I need to start a Uly delivery service. How awful it was to ride down the Blue Ridge Parkway to deliver goods. A whole 165 miles worth, tough gig, I know. NUTS |

Nuts, Was gonna post a pic for Carlos and Kristi - unfortunately the adapter to my camera/computer got packed and sent to Cali yesterday. Guess I'll post it from there next week. Kristi, Have asked Baby Bart to be sure to wait on that housewarming till I get back and hoping the weather is happy enough that we can all even two wheel it there. |

Anza Borrego State Park.
We stopped so I could warm my hands on the muffler. We came in over the top of a 3300 foot mountain pass. It was cold and there was snow on the road. It was actually warm by the time you got to the bottom of the valley. The road was great, steep dropoffs, lack of guard rails. The sudden death aspect lends excitement. I thought of Carlos. |

Wanna know what frustration is? It's thinking you're going to ride the 'Bolt down to RPHD to pick up a free Buell tire gauge on a beautiful day and you hit the start button and get nothing! poor battery. |
