i've been gone awhile but i thought this might be helpful to some:ully would die when turning hard left or right but once the bike warmed up it stoped.the fix was a broken ignition wire under the headlight assembly.the wire was broken inside the wire jacket with no sign of a problem outside the jacket.I found the break by pulling one by one until the bike died.I replaced the black tape stuff with split loom to avoid future problems.

Nice one. Electrical problems give me the worst headache, but now I have another tool in my belt. Thanks for sharing.

the wire was broken inside the wire jacket with no sign of a problem outside the jacket.

Same thing happened to my tach wire, where the harness exits at the top of the guide bolted to the steering head. Do you still have the '06 type?

You might try removing it or replacing it with 2007-up part Y1000.2AK, less strain on the harness.
