http://www.ramapomc.org/2009-Crotona_Flyer.pdf Should be the mildest EVER Crotona Midnight Run tonight. This event runs no matter what the weather but it should be above freezing tonight. Any other Brave Buellers out there?? |

looks like a cold ride, but it's also one of those things you get to have bragging rights for the rest of your life for. Anyone that can do it should for that alone |

It's not going to get above 65 degrees today. Who in their right mind would go riding in this kind of cold? |

My record was 9 degrees. It was a sublime experience. Crystal clear sky, full moon with some stars visible and NO OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD! This year it's supposed to be above freezing, so likely there'll be a lot more participation than in years past. With the winter we've had so far, I'm sure a lot of people are ITCHING to get back on their bikes! |

I ride no matter how cold. Some Gerbings heated gloves, thermal undies, jeans, rain pants. My upper body usually has a long sleeve tshirt, tshirt, hoodie and my Joe Rocket jacket with the liner. Head it is a lycra ski mask and my full face with closed vents. I have a pair of waterproof roofing boots(gummy sole) a size too big so I can cram two pairs of wool socks in there. I don't ride with snow on the ground. |

I promised my friend I'd ride up with him tonight. Depending on how I feel at that time, I'll either sign up, or just head on back home. I haven't been getting a lot of sleep lately thanks to work and I'd rather NOT do this if I think I'm going to nod off somewhere down the road... |

Froggy; just go. I bet it will be a ball! I don't know about New York, but the weatherman on channel 5 in Boston was saying that temperatures were going to rise over night, with the wind out of the south west. If I lived a little closer, I'd do the ride. Think of the bragging rights! |

Strait if you need a place to crash, I am a half hour from Yonkers and have a trickle charger. Crusty, I am going either way. I found more info, it looks similar to a iron butt with checkpoints and getting on time and junk. I will go for the cruise but not compete. I don't want to win, just enjoy the good times. |

I bailed. Not enough sleep and I couldn't trust myself. I met Froggy and his departure time was 1:05 AM (so he should be leaving the parking lot as I type this). Good luck, Froggy! Let us know how you did. I don't think there'll ever be a WARMER Crotona Midnight Run than what they're having tonight. Damned shame. There was another Buell, a white Firebolt, at the sign up, too. Anyone here? |

Jaimec: You made the right choice. If there was a single doubt in your mind about your safety (and the safety of others) wave off and ride another day. It's all risk vs. reward be sure the scale is at an acceptable level for you. |

It's the ice that worries me on cold rides. Road tires don't have much traction and have you ever tried to pick up a big bike on the ice? It slides one way and you slide the other. It would make a funny video though. |

Froggy: So how'd you do? Did you hit the checkpoints on time? Did you even care? |
