Anybody remember the name of the kid who was talking speed, pumping himself up a bit overmuch? Got "spoken to" after his declaration that he was GOING TO be in Recon Marines? ...oh well... my point would be lost. |

Panhead, I am not hear to just start shit. i was simply asking a question about RPM's. i know this is a free forum and people can say wha}t ever they want. But i am a grown man. i have a wife, kid, and a mortgage. i am well aware of the speed limit. And how i ride is my business. if i want to go 10 in a 45, or 110 in a 65. people always offer their 2 cents about what guys are doing wrong on this site. thats not what i asked for. others HElP A LOT.. I LOVE this site and the last thing i would want to do is start shit so no one offers me advise or just ignores my posts. so i guess this thread is done cause i got the advise i was asking for. and if im ever in OR ill look you up. i put an ad on the uk web for a trade. |

Back to what I believe was the original question: Changing from the stock sprocket to the 29T will be a change of X percent. You should expect your RPM's at 100mph, for example, to decrease by the same X percent. If, for example, your bike turns 4k rpm at 100mph, and the percent change by going to the 29T sprocket is 3percent, it will now be turning at 3880rpm, if my math is correct. |

LDB, Please forgive some of the remarks, but this thread (or at least the interpretation of this thread) has been hashed out time and time again. It usually goes something like this: "I have a Buell XBM212RSXTT and ride with other sportbike guys. In the straights, I'm being left for dead. What can I do to make my bike go faster and keep up with my buddies on their 600/1000's?" There are no easy ways to accomplish this. Gearing alone won't do much. You can spend a lot of money building your motor. It will get you closer to your goal, but you will sacrifice dependability. In addition, the costs will be equivalent to the price of a used 600 or 1000. Please don't read too much into the comments. They come from having seen this line of questions come up over and over and over. If you are looking for higher straight line speed, you can't turn a mule into a thoroughbred no matter how much you spend in oats. |

If you are looking for higher straight line speed, you can't turn a mule into a thoroughbred no matter how much you spend in oats. well put. I ride with a lot of sportbike guys, and I laugh when the get hauled off to jail for triple digit speeds. I am not saying I dont, or have not but the Buell air cooled motor is not the right tool for that job. You would not try to lube your wife up with glue before you stick her would ya? |

I have a Euro spec M2 & had the US rear pulley which gave it much more life, at the expense of top end & higher fuel consumption; Fitting the stock Euro pulley & a Mikuni gave me the best of both, much more comfortable cruising but still plenty of grunt. Bear in mind all this is with a euro front pulley, which ever pulley set-up you use there's enough adjustment in the swingarm. But as everyone else here has stated it won't ever be a R1 or GSX eater. Enjoy your riding, ride at your own pace, if your friends aren't prepared to wait for you, they're not real friends. |

Chain and sprockets allow damn near infinate combinations/ratios. You could experiment untill you found a set up that works for you and sell the ones that didn't in the classifieds. Just a thought. |
