Ha ha! I coulda gone with the '09, maybe even in white, but my preference was the '08 paint scheme... Not to mention I got myself a hell of a deal on the left over! |

Thanks Guys! And thanks to everyone here for enlightening me as to the issues associated with 1125R ownership. Invaluable knowledge. Knowledge is power. I'm well aware of the phrase "caviat emptor". |

Hey norton, how did you find your build #? I'm interested in finding mine. Is it part of the VIN sequence? |

Codename.. I bought a left over 08 1125r about a month ago. Its been a long month with a lot of back and forth with my service department but it is now 100% where it should be. Here's the quick run down on things that should be done.. of course have them look into all the recalls on HD-net and do those. next have the service department look up tech tip #396.. which refers to a parasitic drain on your battery with the use of the security system. It basically keeps your bike "awake" while "key off" draining your battery overnight. They will replace your instrument cluster with an '09 cluster. which helps with drivability issues,(if drivability issues persist tell them to look up tech tip 390 It's a written diagnostic procedure to check several things and if everything checks out OK the throttle body may need to be replaced. ) next you need the most recent ECM calibration.. just tell them to hook it up to digital technician and reflash. the most current calibration number is M3HUS04Z make sure you have them print out the new calibration to verify this.. if they are having problems doing this have them refer to tech tip 374.. that should pretty much cover the big stuff |

I also just purchased an 08 with a build date of Dec 07. Picked her up on Sat. Love the bike but my rear turn signals don't work and my headlights seem to dim fairly quickly at anything below 4500 rpm. I've read about the front turn signals but haven't heard anything about the rears having issues. Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

Congrats Gearhead! What a machine! From what I understand, you'll be covered under warranty, but I'm unaware of the cause. |

I thought everyone was going to LED tail and brake lights because they last a whole lot longer. Are there any aftermarket offerings that last longer. |

Supertt is right about Tech Tip 396. They replaced Sreedo cluster with one for a 09. Has a gear and battery voltage indicators |

Robert Hall at XBLights makes an awesome integrated LED run/stop/turn taillight. I have the first one he made for an 1125R and it is a work of art. A year out and still working like new. Great visibility, very bright, and it really helped clean up the rear end. Dunno about Elvira, but Loretta has 6800 degree Kelvin blue-eyes. <edit> BTW Loretta is #154, built on 06 NOV 07.<> Z (Message edited by zac4mac on February 10, 2009) |

Hey Norton and Zack, thanks. Elvira is bone stock... For now. How are your HID's or Xenon's Zack? Major improvement I'd imagine. Difficult to install? Cost? I suffer from poor night vision as it is... I need all the help I can get. |

Your bike and my bike could be sisters... got mine from Mancuso, also with a Dec. '07 build date... number 718. Her name is Naomi (big, black & beautiful, just a bit abusive). (Message edited by Pariah on February 11, 2009) |

Hey Pariah! Small world, isn't it. Well, today's supposed to be nice weather for us Houstonians... I hope to sneak out and get some nice easy break in miles on her! |

HIDs - got them before Homecoming, installed right after I got home. The lights go right in, I got the large ballasts and was just able to tuck them in the fairing. Foot-long ty-raps are the shizzzz. Bought a relay but didn't use it, wired right into the existing lights circuit. The time it takes for the fuel rail to pressurize lets the lights warm up - they don't seem to mind the restart. Got mine for 120 bucks for the pair at BUB lights or something in New York. Still have Halogen hi-beams, but they add very little. HIDs are wicked bright. I recommend them if you ride at night. Z |

Take a look at xenonrider.com . Give Joseph a call and he can make you a great deal, small digital ballast and all. I've bought 3 sets from him. As a matter of fact I just got an H4 Hi/ low set Saturday from him to replace my 45,000 mile set up on my ST1300. Later Neil S. |
