I'm in the process of trying to sell my M2 so I can move to an XB. It's February and in Indiana there is 10" of snow on the ground. My bike has not been started since November and also no battery tender on it. I bought a tender to charge the battery and it's still being a bear to start. This is my first bike so these may be ignorant questions. Can I use starter fluid, pull the plugs and spray some in there? I have someone coming to look at the bike in a couple days and I'd like to have it running by then. It will probably be hard to sell a bike if I say, it won't start right now. Any help is appreciated. | ||

Change to a lighter weight oil, 10w-40 or lighter. Put a space heater near the case or warm it similarly(incandescent work lamp will help). Drain the gas, put it in your lawnmower or car, fill tank w/ fresh fuel. DON'T use starter fluid on an H-D motor. Bon Chance Z (Message edited by zac4mac on February 06, 2009) | ||

A week ago I brought mine inside overnight to warm up the bike. It started just fine with no stabilizer, fresh fuel or batt. tender. It had not run since late Oct. or early Nov. It has sat in my non-heated (Wisconsin) garage. I usually leave it in my shop but I have another bike in there torn down. And starting up the bike in the house does not bother the dogs but really torques the Wife the wrong way. I think you could try jumping the bike with another battery (bike or car) to test the theory of a bad battery. | ||

I pulled the plugs and put new ones in and it started on the first crank. |
