so what about using the ztl concept for the drive wheel? mount the pulley to the outside hoop instead of the hub? anyone know the weight difference saving etc?

Are you asking for more brake action? You,re not supposed to need much rear brake, at least not on a racer or street bike. I race and don't use my rear brake much at all. More rear would be unsafe in a panic moment.

Maybe for a custom it would be cool.

not so much for the increase in braking action and boy are you right about having to much available. one i was thinking of one more way to perhaps reduce unsprung weight im afraid though with the big rotor that may be offset. not sure. also like the idea of having a matched set of wheels what we have are close but i want the to be the same as far as blade spokes and hollow hubs

Remember, the rear wheel is ALSO the drive wheel. The torque from the engine HAS to go through the hub into the tire - so the spokes are already pretty stout. Because the braking action is so small by comparison, there's no real weight saving potential by using the ZTL for the rear... just my opinion.

not hubless and that last thing not my style. not sure of the numbers but im not thinking the braking vs acceleration would be that different. at any rate the idea is basically the same wheel as in font a little wider of course to accommodate a wider tire using a similar mount scheme to mount the drive pully to the outer hoop instead of the inner hub ideally a integrated rear brake disc to the inside of the drive or even then idea of the outer surface being the rotor surface with a single piston caliper to really clean things up dont currently have foto chop or id show you what i mean

final gearing is going to dictate the size of the pulley. Either the wheel has be strong to handle the engine torque, or the pulley will have to be if it's mounted to the outside of the wheel. Keep in mind how the belt or chain would need to wrap around the outside of the pulley, sonit would need a bit more stout in order to space it out from the rim.

[1] any more foto detail on the Ohlins fork with radial caliper mount?

[2] if caliper's not OEM, then what brand of pincher?
