Last week I took my 09 Uly in for a check-the mpg had dropped off a bit from steady 42 down to 37. I know 42 is not great, but its only got 3k on it, and my 06 improved with time, so here's hoping.... Anyhoo, I chatted with the tech after I got it back and was surprised to learn of the 'update' the DT called for and installed. Seems an updated map was available for my bike. Long story short, I haven't had enough time yet to determine any improvement in mpg. The bike runs the same as before(great), but there is one noticeable change-the behavior of the fan. Prior to the reflash, the fan would RARELY come on while in motion, cycle off quickly if it did, and run for a LONG time after shutoff(7 minutes-I timed it a few times). Now, it runs frequently while in motion and shuts off in less than 2 minutes after ignition off. I'm not complaining about this, but just found it odd that there was such a dramatic change in the fan's behavior. Anyone else with an 09 get the reflash? |

I worry more when I shut down and don't hear my fan...which is probably just paranoia from when my fan failed (little over a year ago). |

Max come up to NY. I have only heard my fan once in the last month, and that was when I used ECMspy to check to see if it is still working! |

Froggy, what is strange is I have rides to work (30 miles) with the temp in the 30's and the fan only kicks on when I turn the key off...and a few weeks ago I was riding to work in the teens...and the fan came on while riding. So there has to be more to it than just the ambient temperature. My riding style or route really doesn't change much during my morning commute. But I would love to visit sometime...thanks for the invitation! |
