I could have sworn that USAA did not provide Motorcycle insurance, but farmed it out to other companies. Is this the case? I used to have USAA for my cars, but when I went to get Motorcycle insurance, I thought they said they would have to farm it out. Maybe it is only in NY or something. Do you guys with USAA actually have USAA motorcycle insurance, or do you have it through USAA, farmed out to another company? |

As far as I know it's USAA proper and not farmed out. I've had insurance from USAA for my bikes since 1999 and it's always seemed like it was them and no one else. Never can tell though in this world. You may be right Kttemplar, it may just be a state thing. |

I think it is a state thing, my dad and i wanted usaa insurance on our bikes, and they said that they dont write the policies for them and it would be farmed out. |

I'm not certain, but I think USAA is state specific...also it may be direct insurance from them if you had a policy with USAA prior to them dropping direct motorcycle insurance. I've had a policy with them since 2003, and they never mentioned using another insurer in either Maryland or California. |

Looks like a few people posted some numbers with liability coverages. Unless you are comparing liability, uninsured motorists, comprehensive, collision, deductibles, medical expense, towing and labor etc. along with the price, it's like apples to oranges. Different cities in the same state, obviously make a difference too. Let's see the differences in the details along with the price. Some may only have state minimums. May be too much to post, but if your going to compare, you have to know all the details to have a fair comparison. (Message edited by dentguy on February 01, 2009) |

$700/year for full coverage on 2008 Firebolt through Dairyland. Deductible is 250 or 500, can't remember which. Record is clean with just 1 speeding ticket in last 10 years. This Buell is my first bike, and Dairyland beat most other quotes I received by at least 50%. I didn't bother with State Farm though. Makes me wonder. |

USAA farms their coverage to Progressive. I just bought my Uly in November and shopped around for insurance with Geico, Dairyland, and USAA (through Progressive). USAA/Progressive was best by a clear margin. Supposedly you get year-round coverage for the cost of seasonal coverage. |

It's funny, when I bought my bike 5 1/2 years ago, USAA is the first place I checked. I have USAA everything. They quoted me 2-3 times everyone else's price. I called back to be sure. The agent basically admitted they weren't interested in writing new policies. Maybe they are now. |

I used to live in Toronto... in-laws lived out in BC. Don't recall such outlandish insurance rates in Ontario, except when I was about 18 (for a sporty car), following an accident which was my fault. They dropped off sharply when I hit 25, if I recall. I pay about $900/yr for two motorcycles (1125R and DR-Z400SM) in the state of Texas, full coverage with Dairyland. I'm 37 years old, MSF-trained (basic and ERC), clean record for the past 3 years, have been riding for 1 year. |

USAA farms out through Progressive (at least here in FL). Lowest cost by far is Dairyland for me. I pay about 960 a year with min coverages for a bike on a loan. $500 deductible. |

Full coverage in TX, age 44, married, 100/300/50, comp and coll, $500 deduct, $480 a year with Geico. USAA is farmed out to Progressive, they quoted me about $1,500. I've been a USAA member for years and have my home, auto, and umbrella through them. |

USAA is only farmed out to Progressive in certain states. In CA they still write their own policies, that's why it's so cheap over there. I called USAA on a Sunday one time and got auto-forwarded to the Progressive office, they quoted me $2178 in CA for an 1125R. When I called USAA back a few month later just for S&Gs to see what they would give me for a CR they quoted me $183 for three months. If I would have went with their first quote I'd be paying $710 through Geico right now instead of $366 (I know I was wrong on my math earlier) through USAA. |

Southern California- Safeco Insurance: $541/year first year w/agent broker(culver insurance) and then 441/yr or lower next year. I am 48yo no accidents/tickets with 2009 1125CR, Full coverage, 500 Deductibles, comp and collision. I work in Riverside,CA at Harley Davidson/Buell dealership and its rated as pleasure. I will be shopping some more on quotes, but Geico/Progressive were much higher 700+, Foremost Ins was just a bit higher at 580+. I am from NJ where it may be a little cheaper, not by much. New Mexico would be a little cheaper. Since I travel and live back and forth at times. (Message edited by racerxusa on February 08, 2009) (Message edited by racerxusa on February 08, 2009) |

Mine is 363 a year i had to put it in my dads name because of my tickets. I reccomend to everyone to go through Riders insurance they do not consider the 1125R a supersport it was actually less expensive to insudre then my dad HD street Glide.}}} |
