Hi Court, I just landed in NYC from San Diego for a Superbowl party. We are headed for Dinosaur BBQ tomorrow at an undetermined time and I remembered the old DBBQ thread. If you are available, come on up and party with us. My cell is 760.560.8049. I kinda look like you so you can't miss us. Sorry for the late notice. I'll give you an update on the SoCal Buell tribe. If you don't have Superbowl plans, you are cordially invited to a party up on W96th St. Anyone else in the NYC area....feel free to call me. |

Dinosaur BBQ was as they say in California, awesome. We consumed fried green tomatoes and had the Tres Hombres (brisket, pork, and ribs). Washed it down with Schaefer beer and Gennessee Cream Ale. |

Cool . . . sorry I missed you I'd like to have taken you on the tour. The Apollo Theatre, just several blocks away in Harlem, is celebrating their 75th Anniversary and the town's jumping this weekend. I'd love to join you for the game but it's looking like I've going to be drug to relatives . . . You'll have a blast! |

No problem, Court. You can catch Al Lighton and me on the West Coast if you ever come visit your former digs. I'll catch the Ape Hanger on my next trip. I love NYC. It is even more fun being the ONLY Republican on the Upper West Side. I just smile a lot and enjoy the ride. The people here are great. There must of been a cajillion people jogging around in snowy/icebound Central Park this morning. I left 80 degree San Diego for this but it is worth it. |

It's got to be one of the greatest cities in the world . . . I lived in San Diego for a couple years and I'd darn sure put it in the same category . . . I was there when the "Over the Line" started, the days of great burgers in La Jolla and hot nights on Orange Avenue after the Coronado Bridge was built (you're too young to remember the Orange Avenue Ferry, right? NYC is a blast and it seems anything that happens in the world has it's HQ here . . . You are not the ONLY Republican on the Upper West Side but there are damn few. Central Park is incredible and most folks, unless they've been there, aren't aware of how spectacular it is. I used to run around the reservoir twice every morning at 9:00AM before I went back to work. It was always a hot bed of activity. How long are you going to be around? I've got meetings tomorrow morning on a new 500MW plant in the planning stages and class late afternoon, but will be around a good part of the day if you are hanging around. Have fun and enjoy. |

I am only here for the weekend for the Superbowl Party on W.96th St. Flying out mid-afternoon so we'll have to get together next time. Maybe we can coax Lighton into coming next time. Smoking deal....$270 roundtrip, non-stop between San Diego and JFK. Putting things in perspective, the 6 foot long party sandwich just arrived for $205. Gonna get crazy as 70 people are expected momentarily. My favorite OTL team was "Fat, Drunk, and Stupid is no Way to Go Through Life". Do you remember Tugs in PB? The gal I was dating at the time lived in Pacific Beach and we used to rent a place on Toulon Court for 2 weeks every summer so I got pretty familiar (although I frequently went to extreme efforts to dull my memory) with the entire PB area. . .
You'll have a great time at the party . . . you're smack dab in the middle of my stompin' grounds . . . if you need BBQ quick this afternoon Rack n' Soul will do, it's no Dinosaur, but not bad for the neighborhood. Keep the noise down . . . I'm trying to study! Bring Al and the gang sometime and we'll do the all night coffee and cheesecake tour and have dinner at one of my favorite places . . . Ulysses'. Have a fun time and a safe trip, Court |
