A week of 110F+ temps here, and I thought some feedback on how the 09 fared in yesterday's heat w/b useful to Board members. Short answer: no problems of any kind, heat-related or otherwise, on a day that reached 110F by midday. When I checked the fluids this a.m., all were at full, as was the tyre pressures. When I started out the intake temp was 111F, which rose to 124F on the freeway, and ended up at 137F at idle when stopped in traffic. The highest temp, of course, reflected the heat off the engine that would have been trapped under the fairing. But the 124F temp was what I was riding in! When I parked the bike in the shade, coolant temp was right at 212F, which we know is well below boiling on a pressurised system with a 50/50 antifreeze mix. Frame temp was 140F (I keep an infrared thermo scanner in my tailbag). There was no fuel boiling or dripping from a near-full tank. Fans didn't run any longer than usual after parking. That said, though the bike fared well, I was overheated even in my textile "summer" riding gear and had to turn back (after cooling off in KFC) for my health! |

Thanks for the info! By the way, that's probably the only time I have ever seen "KFC" and "for my health" in the same sentence... R |

Last summer I had similar experiences with my 08' 1125rt. I think we did see some 100-103 temps this year but, it wasn't as bad as last year when we had 90 days over 95deg or something like that. After the last flash I did notice that coolant temps dropped about 10-12 deg when at temp. At summer temps and having to ride 60+ miles each way, I make sure I have my Camelback full of cold water. I wet down my forearms and I have A/C, try it you'll like it. |

Gold what?? Grandpa bags LOL! Andrew, keep it up I always need a good laugh. Naw if I really wanted a two up capable sport touring bike I would go with a ST1300. Oh yeah, I've got one of those with 85,000 miles on it. Just call me a frustrated S3T rider. This is my 08' version of a Buell Sport Touring bike. After 16,000 miles in less than a year, I've got it modified just about where I want it. The bar ends are actually Throttlemeister heavy, black ball milled. |

Neil is showing off again! Those fabricating skills, top notch, no question. How about showing us a pic of the Honey who rides around with you on that luxury '25R?? Hmmm? Let's see if you're as studly as you are handy... Here's mine (she's content with the 1125R in STOCK trim, well, at least I haven't heard her complain!): (Message edited by Pariah on January 28, 2009) |

A $6500 riding companion. Well, it's classier than an inflatable one. |

Hey Red, sorry for the hijack, but I couldn't resist teasing Neil! Ken: it's called a Realdoll... not a BadWeb sponsor, so I cannot elaborate... highly customizable with many wonderful options, is all I'll say. |
