the interesting thing is that said engine is on ebay right now with only 9 hours remaining and starting bid is a low 800 bucks for a complete running engine....does anyone think it would be impossible? |

ha! I have this mental image of a badass naked s1 w/ quintesential ducati sound, and 1125 rad pods hanging off the side. Would definitely be different in every sense! If the motor is that cheap, give it a shot! |

Am I the only one that thinks this is a bad idea? It's kinda like putting a V12 Ferrari engine into a 1970 Dodge Challenger. Unless the frame is already bastardized in some way, then go for it! |

I wouldn't do it personally, but to each his own I guess. I love the 999R, and I love the Buells, but the only Ducati stuff I would want on my Buell is the 10-spoke Marchesinis. |

snag an x1 and do it, they're the most common tubers. there is allways a rolling frame for sale in the classifieds or ebay for real cheap. then you can modify the tail to sit an s1 rear fender! |

You would have an easier time bolting the duc engine to an XB frame. How about getting a rolling chassis of a KLR650 from the junkard? |

I thought that the Ducati motor was designed to be a stressed member of the chassis..How would the mounting points look with the motor in the Tuber frame? Just wondering... |

The Ducati uses the engine like a frame brace but the Buells use the engine as a part of the frame itself. The front wheel is connected to the tube frame. The rear wheel is connected to the rear of the engine with the shock pulling against the front of the engine. The only thing keeping the bike in all one place are the little heim joints on the top and the big rubber isolators near the footpegs. If you take the buell engine out of the frame, you end up with two halves of a bike If you're going to do something "wrong" with that engine, I would suggest a project that isn't so insanely hard ![: )](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/happy.gif) |

I wonder if you could shoehorn that into a Suzuki SV650 chassis? That would be so sick. |

Back in the 90's i saw a 750 cc stuffed into a 600 katana frame, I still remember this because i can remember the weird triangular holes on the sides of the mufflers, They were ground out courtesy of the asphalt. This crazy nut was going so deep in the corners he was dragging through the mufflers. Insanely hard +10 |

I am wondering if anyone here knows the max rim width/ tire size the (under slung shock) cast aluminum swingarms can handle? ( collecting for a Ducati ST 3 powered XB R) I will be watching this thread to see if anything happens with this project. (so I can avoid some costly mistakes ) |

There was once a German (?) customizing place that did some XB stuff. Somebody help me out here. IIRC it was done up in black and orange, original huh? |
