I was wondering if anyone else had this going on too.
I brought it up with the local dealer and they said they contacted Buell. That was this past summer and I have not heard anything since. From what it looks like the air box cover is rubbing on it and taking the coating off. Thanks for any help |

I'd Like to Help, but from the picture I can't tell what you are asking about. Do you have a better picture or a map so I can tell where other than above a main frame weld I am? |

I believe I saw the same when I did the 12.4k service on mine. At this rate it will take 20 years to wear thru. I'm not worried about it here. BJ - it's a shot of the rear valve/cam cover from the left side. Pull your seat off and you'll see it. Z |

Mine is doing it too. Like Z said, I am not too worried about it. Just a little rubbin.... |

My opinion on what they are going to say, is that this is a cosmetic issue. Cosmetic issues are usually addressed based on this logic: If the bike is all together and sitting in sunlight, I should not see it from 3 feet away from the bike. Considering this is just the outer coating and not the aluminum cover being damaged I don't believe it will be warrantied. You can try if you'd like. If it was seriously scoring the aluminum then I'd definitely try to address it. This isn't uncommon on bikes from any manufacturer. I remember I noticed my ducati was doing it a little as well. I think a cable was rubbing a cover that wasn't normally seen and just wore away the paint. Just as long as it isn't causing serious damage to the component it isn't a problem. |

Thanks guys/gals. I really didn't know if the coating was anything major. It does seem pretty common though from the sounds of it. |
