Bike runs fine with the enricher "choke" pulled out. Once it is warm and I push it in all the way the bike stalls immediately. I've made adjustments with the idle adjuster, but no go. I have a side winder intake and have freshly charged the air and oil filter with K&N lube as I do every few months. Any suggestions? Fuel air mixture? |

Most likely a vacuum leak due to failed intake manifold gaskets. Use the search feature to find several threads on checking for leaks and replacing the offending gaskets. The intake charge is lean and is needing the extra fuel from the enrichener. SteveH |

Purchased the kit for the manifold and head gaskets as well as the "two" from the carb to the forcewinder filter. I pulled off the forcewinder and there is a rubber and paper gasket. The paper one shreaded and the rubber one doesn't look that great. Parts guy says there is no rubber gasket...? Should I ditch the rubber one and do I need to use both new paper ones? |

I removed the carb, cleaned it with carb cleaner, and replaced every gasket from the header to the forecewinder. Added carb cleaner to the gas as well as added new gas. I replaced both spark plugs, and I've got the idle adjuster diled in. It still does the exact same thing! Runs fine with the enricher "choke" pulled out. I get the engine up to operating temp and push it in. It immediately dies if I'm not on the throttle. I then did the intake/vaccum test with WD-40 and there is not leak. Any ideas? |

It sounds like something is clogging the idle jet passage and is not allowing gas to flow past the idle needle adjuster screw, resulting in the bike only being able to idle unless the enrichener is pulled out partially. The culprit could be stale gas. Gasoline can become stale over time and deposit a varnish like residue on everything the gas touches. My bikes will do this sometimes if I forget and let them sit for too long of time without fuel stabilizer (Stabil) in the gas tank. If this is the case, try removing the idle adjuster screw and squirting some carb cleaner spray into the idle jet hole. Push the nozzle into the hole as far as it will go and give it a couple quick blasts. Try not to let the spray come back out when you do this. If you can hear fuel bubbling from the float bowl, stop spraying - it should be clear now. Put the idle mixture screw back in and set it to the proper number of turns out from full in. Start the bike per the normal procedure. It should idle OK after warmed up. |

Jesus, my problem exactly. Just rebuilt carb after standing too long- so I doubt if its' idle adj. but I'll do it again anyway. This is the 2-1/2 turns out screw right? |

My 1997 M2 Cyclone used to do this, until I started draining the float bowl after the ride because it's usually too long in between them. The idle jet was gumming up. When I remove it, clean it, and reinstall it runs fine. |
