Anyone try the Cortech DSX jeans with leather panels inserted in butt and knees? (They also have a CE armor knee insert) |

the Hood jeans i have are the Concept 6 which uses knitted aramid. it feels like wearing a towel under ordinary jeans, very hot in summer when off the bike, but still cooler that leather/textiles when on the move. the K7's that guy Matty on the fazer forum was wearing are woven aramid (Kevlar possibly being a brand name?) and seems to cover more area of the leg. due to knitted aramid costing more according to Hoods site Hood do direct orders, but how much it would cost to send then to the USA i dont know. here's link to their website http://www.hoodjeans.co.uk/index.html im not advertising their product as such, so hopefully wont get told off, but safety is an important issue for all of us. i haven't tested my Hoods, but hope not to anytime |

"Anyone try the Cortech DSX jeans with leather panels inserted in butt and knees? (They also have a CE armor knee insert)" I have 2 pair, and have yet to have the opportunity to crash test them. Hope that continues. They seem to be built well and the leather is pretty thick and machine washable. I do wear Forcefield limb tube armor under them. |

Teddagreek: the knitted like i have itch a little, but not too bad, bearable i would call it. the worse thing is the heat off the exhaust on my xb12 in traffic/slow riding, but once moving its cool again. 4cammer: sounds a good idea to have leather panels, but then they dont look like jeans so much do they? which i thought was the idea. now im the wrong side of 50, i look back to when i was 17/18 and rode in jeans all the time and wonder why i was never hurt too bad. i've been lucky though and only had 3 accidents where i was in hospital emergency, but only for a short while. guess i must have bounced well, and never had a high speed (over 30 mph) off. |

Mtch - the DSX jeans look pretty much like a heavy work jean, think Carhart. I have been wearing mine for a few years and have yet to have anyone ask what kind of riding pants they are. You could walk into a store any no one would guess they were lined with leather. |
