hi guys, if you don't me I just bought a 06 xb12scg last week and bought the jardine pipe today hoping for that harley sound, love the small block Chevy sound. I wear ear plugs while riding so I dont hurt my ears. If anyone has this pipe can you tell me what you think about it, I am also installing a K&N air filter as well |

I put one on my City X and really like the sound but it is loud. I also put the filter on with the race ECM. The only problem with it now is that the bike falls on it's face a little bit around the 4000-4500 rpm range. |

Ive heard that about the race ecm and was told to keep the stock ecm and you shouldn't have any stumbles at all. |

Nope, unless you re-map your stock ecm, you have to have a race ecm to run with the Jardine pipe. What you should expect will be NOISE! and lots of it! I've had a Jardine on for sometime, and when I first stated riding with it, my ears would ring for an hour or two when I got off the bike. Oh yes!! You WILL be heard! |

Ok Im getting different info, did you ever run yours with the stock ecm? that's what I plan on doing and was told it will be fine. I don't know what to do now. I don't really want to pay for the race ecm if I don't have to. Cant wait to hear it with the new pipe! any recommendations for the install to make it go easier? |

You will need a Race ECM especially if you are running a K&N as well. You are dramatically changing the air velocity in and out of the engine. Expect to go deaf....I know I had almost 10K miles on my old 9S with a Jardine/K&N/Race ECM. |

Planning on wearing ear plugs when I ride but we will see how loud it is, seems like a straight through muffler with some type of packing in it? where is the best place to get a race ecm from? |

To replace the pipe is a tad tricky but take your time. As far as the rubber cover for the strap that came with your exhuast..first attach it with a tad bit of heat temp glue to hold it in place. That can be a real b*tch. As far as a race ecm goes..YES, you need one. or need to re-map your stock ecm. You can run it like it is, but very quickly you will think...Hmmm, something is wrong here.... You'll think that, and you'll be right. You'll see what I mean. You will need to have your TPS reset also. Then you will be good to go. It's not a cheap mod. no matter how you look at it. You can get an ecm from Buellparts.com, American Sport Bike I think, and even Ebay at times. If you find one for less than 200 your doing real good. Who ever told you different about the exhaust is steering you wrong. As far as the ecm goes. There are a million threads here that confirm everything Im saying. |

The race map wasn't good for my Jardine. I had to do a lot of tweaking to get the popping minimized and to refine other areas of the map. |

ferocity02 what did you need to do to get it running properly? $282 for muffler $200 for race ecm or can it be done with my stock ecm? I was hoping this install wouldn't be a big deal?? seems like this is more complicated than it seemed to be |

Yes, it can be done with the stock ecm,BUT you have to re-map it. Its NOT free, unless you own emcspy (wasnt free) or know somebody who owns it and nows how to work it (now its free). I did have popping issues at first, but they do seem to work them selves out. My bike rarely pops anymore. |

here's my take on it.. i have run a jardine carbon fiber for 9k now and absolutely love it. i did the pipe, K&N, and race ecm. when i first installed the setup i had massive decel popping, and a flat spot from 3800-4500 rpm. I found i had a bad seal at the header to L-pipe connection. once i corrected the leaks the flat spot was gone and decel popping was at a minimum (keep one thing in mind, you do get decel popping now you just don't hear it with the stock muffler as much as you will with the Jardine). i assume you bought the aluminum? if so make sure you keep a close eye on the rivets. as the packing blows out the rivets will begin to loosen. this is worse on the aluminum, because of the softer metal. the rivets can and will oval out the holes and you will eventually blow the pipe out. general inspection of the pipe and timely repacks will help to avoid this. use the stock header to muffler clamp that is on the bike right now, do not use the one supplied with the jardine(it's junk!)and the connection will leak. if i were you i would find someone who can help load the race map into your ecm using ecmspy and see how the bike runs(make sure you save your stock map, just in case)it's no different then what you will get from the race ecm and it's free. you will need to do a TPS reset. Make sure whoever does it knows how to do it, it's a simple procedure thats fairly easy to mess up. good luck i hope you enjoy you new pipe. |

is there somewhere to find local buell riders that may be able to hgelp me out, Im a Network admin but never messed with cars or motorcycle computers, ive read about he ecmspy but didn't know how about re-flashing the ecm with a different tune I can get the pipe on no problem but tuning it well Im a lil gun shy about that, all in all is the pipe gonna help performance or just give me the sound Im looking for? so if i get ecmspy I can upload a different tune for free? how would i know if the current airbox has been modified or not? Sorry to say man, but it sounds like you might need some help with the whole thing. I would find someone who knows the Buell and have them look it over and help you out. I would also get a Service Manual...this will be a big help. |
