Thanks to a couple fellow Bad webbers, my S1 in under going a Face lift. Dreadnaught helped out with the Mfgr of his really clean fairing and The Italian Job helped me locate the source of his very nice custom top tree. Edoardo has been nice enough to sell me his risers so that I can continue to run the larger fuel tank. The mirrors are Emgo replacements for F600 or similar models. Bar end mirrors are nice but these give a very useful view that should help keep me from side swiping cars that I didn't see. I just need to make supports to keep the mirrors from cracking the fairing under high speed use.

a little too small on the resize there... I can't see a thing. And where did the top triple come from? (Message edited by brinnutz on January 18, 2009) |

I attempted to resize the pics a couple times. Each time it said that it was too big even though I was below the required pixel size. The top tree came from Col time on E bay. last I looked they had one more for an M2 but not with the manta tank |

Thanks Ed. Its not anywhere near the detail machine that your is but it has come along way on my limited budget. I was very happy with the fairing as it is not too big but give me a place to hide at close to 3 digit speeds. I was thinking about leaving it black but painting it to match the rest of the bike would make it look less like an add on. The new tree really cleans up the top of the forks. I'm debating what to do with the space at the end of the bars now since I'm not running the bar end mirrors. Maybe a large LED turn signal in the end of the grip. Just a thought. |

well, honestly it'd be nice to paint the fairing to match up at least one of the 2 other colors, otherwise you'll have 3 colors on the bike, not so nice... but I really like your bike, is different that every other S1 around. very good job my friend...

I really dig the windscreen/fairing. Very Monster-ish. Kinda surprised that more people don't have these cuz the ones for the Ducs could be easily adapted. What color is the bike gonna be when you're done? |

Everything will be the Candy Apple Red that the body and front fender are now.The Manta tank is from a fellow Bad Webber and I never got around to painting it.Too much fun to ride it. The fairing is from GIVI. If you check Dreadnought's posting under the thread "Another home made windshield", that is the first time I had seen one and it became one of those "must have" items |

So, is anyone gonna answer if I was right about the triple? I keep asking about it, but no one seems to give up the info. |

it's made from Billet to Race, but you have to be lucky to find one on ebay, cause they don't make it anymore...

Like I said, I saw the seller, those sold for $129 last week IIRC. I was gonna pick them up...Guess I'll message him and see if he's making anymore. |

Brinnutz, They used to be called Billet to Race. Now they are using the name Col time. Sorry. I thought that I answered your question before I posted the new pics. I saw one more tree last week from them but it was for an M2. The guy seems to be a great machinist but sucks at responding to messages |

A pair of metal re-enforcing plates inside the fairing should help with your mirror concerns, it would suck if that fairing started to crack under vibration or wind pressure. Spread out the load area on the inside. |

I'm in the process of fabricating a base plate that will have 1/4" bar stock welded to it and 1"x 2"X 1/8" plate to support the mirror bases on the inside of the fairing. Just waiting on the risers so that I can get my angles laid out to clear the gauges with the new bar position. You are right that the fairing alone would break under wind loading but I want to connect the mirror bases to the top tree for support. Pics posted when complete |

That looks like the fairing /lamp unit from the new 1125, yes? I was not too keen on the windshield thing until I saw Dreadnaught's M2.Unfortunately much of my commute is on the interstate so the slightly larger fairing becomes a real plus but no so top heavy looking as the ones from the S3. A couple guys had suggested the S3 unit as it is plug & play but I felt it was too much for the S1's otherwise naked appearence |

I like the S3 Units except the 1980's rectangle headlight. I did not like them on the 80's cars either. I am so so on dual headlights but it robs the bike of the nostalgia look of the 7" headlight. Here is the same Givi on a S3 and a Suzuki. These pictures are what moved me to my decision that is was the right fairing.

I hadn't seen one before your M2. That was all it took to sell me on the idea. It should go for paint in the next week when I get done making the fairing support to fit over the raised bar height. |

One of the other things that sold it was the windscreen, that little angle up on the end can make all the difference in deflecting airflow. |

Graham, when you get those mods done, it will look spectacular . You should look into Nick's (TexasTechX1) pod mod to lower your gauges when the otgarmods are finished. |

I dunno that he made a write-up on it. I saw it somewhere though and I've heard him mention it before. Send Nick a PM and ask him about it. I think it's based off a sportster speedo/tach mount. |

im not sure if the bulbs themselves are HID but they are the automotive type of bulb so they should be able to be replaced with HID if they are not, They are A TON brighter than the stocker, great all around illumination including the ground right in front and to either sides |
