Anyone have pics of a black x1 with a blacked out tail section. Trying to make a decision whether to coat or polish. I can have it coated for 65+or-. Thanks for the help. |

How well does the powdercoating hold up? Didn't someone on here anodize it or something? |

If you do it properly, it will hold up REALLY well. The trick is first a light blast and then hot iron phosphate immersion (which will mostly just clean aluminum) and rinse for the pretreatment. Also has to be cured long enough, too. I used to do it for a living. I hate polishing stuff! |

Hard anodized black is the best finish i think you can do. Most places only charge about 65-70$ for anodizing. |

Mine was sandblasted to grey and all of the previous finish was removed, I polished a section with the logo on it, did not like it. So I coated it all. the coater, washed it with something, then ran it up to temperature to get water and air out of any imperfectiions, it was coated one color and cured it has held up well considering I do not baby my bike I believe that it was polyester powder the wheels were done by polish to perfection, wash, heat, cool, coat, cure the powder cracks where the 2 halves flex and water gets under it making some seriously ugly grey spots, Powder coating on wheels may flex at the rim edges I have a no mar changer the coating cracks where it has been clamped I will likely strip the wheels again and repolish them and leave them bare I understand that a good cleaning and waxing is best once spotless this helps keep them nice. PM = POLISH ME |

Ok guys i have a swing arm as we speak being hard anodized black. I got a sweet deal they do all the cleaning and prep and anodizing for 75 bucks, WOW what a deal when i get it back i will post really good pics, I also have the new xb rocker covers that are going in next with the tail section. I just bought a used swing arm off the bay last year and its the one at the shop being anodized. I will do a swap from the bike and get my original swing arm done and then sell it ultimately. |

Jstfrfun< I understand your views. I still maintain alot of pride in my time served. But its also going to be a tribute to my G-pa (WWII Vet) and my Dad (Vietnam Vet)and two current battle buddies serving in Iraq. It's going to be a pretty dark O.D. so it wont be real obvious to the general public until closer look at the airbrush work. |
