The 08 charging system is 32amps 420W peak. While the 09 is 37amps 520W peak. Which brings up the question, what's the part number for the 09 stator? | ||

Not really new information. Was discussed here several months ago that the 09 would have an updated charging system. I pulled that information off of the Buell website. Here for the 09: http://www.buell.com/en_us/bikes/sportbike/1125R/s pecifications.asp Here for the 08: http://www.buell.com/en_us/bikes/2008/1125R/specs. asp As for the direct replacement question, I assume it's just the stator that has changed. Someone with access to both parts manuals could verify. | ||

The rectifier part numbers are the same, just the stator numbers have changed. Don't have them with me, but both are even the same price. 600.00 dollars and a bit of spare change. D | ||

FWIW, is the rotor P/N the same? It wouldn't surprise me if you had to change both but, just a turn count, or wire size, on the stator could make the difference. | ||

"that the 09 would have an updated charging system." Will say I've had none of the charging issues on my 09 that I've read about on this Board, that in hindsight appear to have been strictly about the 08s. So it would appear the changeover did the trick. | ||

$600 stator? Ouch. If that's the cost of a prestigious state of the art motor, I'll stick to my sporty motor, thanks.  I've got a 1985 Kawasaki if I wanted to pay 4x manufacturing costs for parts.  | ||

i got the letter at my service department but there was no date. its an upgrade to 09 i will ask my manager for permission to call tech services on monday to confirm and get some answers | ||
