Xl1200r - that first archtop is beautiful!!! Nice I have only ever heard good things about G&L's. I'd love try out a G&L bass one day. Gary - I've never sold a guitar! The only one I'm missing is my first nylon string acoustic which got destroyed by my cats many years ago. None of my guitars are particularly expensive or rare (The Ibanez Talman with the lipsticks is probably the rarest, or the Vorg(!) Les Paul copy), but it's amazing what can be done with a good setup by a tech who know's what he's doing. I have a local guy, Matt, who has done wonders, making custom nuts and modifying bridges etc. That little Orange rig looks coooooool Orange PRS looks super tasty next to it! You folks all have some really nice gear |

I'm eager to hear how you like that Orange and I'ld love to hear more about the Bogner and the rack set up next to it. I'm going to add an Ultrasound next week. I'm still searching for an acoustic amp that doesn't "try to be an electric". |

DD, wow very nice picking technique. i really struggle to roll my picking fingers like that. i pretty much just stick with a pick. Court, after putting the Orange Tiny Terror thru its paces last night. it is a GREAT amp. i do believe you can get about any sound you want out of it. the only thing is for me it doesn't have quite enough gain for what i normally play. the gain the amp has sounds amazing but it is more along the line of AC/DC or Black Sabbath sounding. the cleans on it are very nice you can get anything from a very crisp chimmey high's. to very warm round sounding clean. then you can dirty it up a bit make it sound like Stevie Ray Vaughan. i plan on buying a simple boost pedal for it. that should give me all the gain i need. the speaker cab i have it running thru is the orange 1x12 with celestion vintage 30 in it. i personally think that Orange makes the best sounding cabs you can get. my live rig consists of 2 Orange 4x12's, Bogner Uberschall, Berhinger compressor gate, allesis 30 band eq, BBE sonic maximizer and a korg tuner. it had a sennheiser wirless mounted in it. but i sold it to get the orange tinny terror. the Bogner is an extremely high gain amp. it is a boutique amp. it is the best sounding amp head i have ever played. it pretty much does one thing which is distortion. but it does it unbelievably well. then i run the rack gear thru my effects loop just to tighten up my tone a little bit. i tune pretty low. so it helps all of the notes shine thru. as far as effects go i don't use any. if i can't make the sound with my guitar then i don't need it. let me know what you end up getting for an acoustic amp. i have heard the Fishman acoustic amps sound really good. |

I have a couple now and am going to add the Ultrasound. The Fishman Loudbox do good as do the AER. The new Bose "tower" thing is interesting but a bit too gimmicky. I have a Fender Acoustisonic I use around the house, bought it new but it's a crap shot from day to day if it works or not. |

Cool thread! I don`t mean to cheapen it with my 2nd and 3rd class crap but here is what my boys and I have. Epi special, mex std strat, mex deluxe blackout tele, chinese lp copy, $25 midgit, and alvarez electric/accustic. The Fenders and the Alvarez are the most liked and most played. The white L P copy needs some help. It looks the best and plays good but doesnt sound good. I need to have someone set it up for me and I would like to replace the 3 position switch with a 5 position to help give it a broader range. The rickenbacker is an old solid state 2-10 that I rescued from a dumpster a few years ago.

JimDuncan must be a young man lugging a couple of 4x12 cabinets about. That said, in my experience, an electric sound is more about the amp and single coils vs. humbucker sound. I've been kind of an LP man over the years, but have recently found great joy in the Esquire/telecaster design. I'll post pics later. Gotta go. |

Psyclonej, i am not that young. but one good thing about being in a band. i don't have to carry those cabs by myself. trust me the orange cabs are really heavy. they are made of 18 ply birch. which is why they sound so good. |

In my opinion the line 6 is hands down the best choice out there for a good well rounded amp especially for what they cost. I realize that other amps will out perform the line 6 for specific sounds and effects but the line 6 seems to give a hell of a lot more. Mine has 12 amp models and a bunch of effects all in one nice tidy package. Also has a built in tuner and plenty of power. It has a stupid amount of preset sounds which is kinda cool and my kid likes but I hate trying to navigate through them so I don`t use that part. My son did the school talent show with it and totally rocked a 300+ seat auditorium with it only turned about 1/2 way up. If we were more serious and had the $$$ I would probably get one of the new line 6 Bogner tube amps but then if I had the $$$ I would also look into a lot of other equipment too. |

it looks like a few you guy's have line 6 amps. what do you guy's think of them? I'm learning, and I wanted what I was playing to sound like the real deal. The Line 6 does it for me. $200 on Craigslist, 120W. It has a good clean setting, and endless dirty combinations. It simulates 12 classic amps, then you can adjust from there. I love metal and this amp makes everything sound great. I wish I had the newer version with a pre-set for every song ever played, but I'm still very happy with this one, especially for $200. |

I have one of the really early Line6's, the AxSys 212, had it for quite a few years now, I love it . It's built like a truck, has a heap of amp models and a heap of effects. I believe you can edit more amp and effects parameters than on the later models. *Very* useful for recording. Certain amp models are quite noisy, but I'd expect the originals to behave in the same way. Even though it has a heap of amp models I tend to mainly use only 2 or 3 of them (Mesa Boogie, Fender Twin, sometimes the JC-120). Clean sounds are very good. It's fairly heavy, but *incredibly* loud. 2 x 50W amps, easily as powerful as a 100W tube amp running into 2x12's. I think Line6 had a reputation for being conservative on power figures for their early amps, not sure about the later ones. I wouldn't mind having another Line6, one of the smaller models for smaller gigs. |

Ok peoples, what is the guitar you'd *like* to have? For me it's early slabby Fenders I'd like a timber finish Telecaster/Esquire/Broadcaster with black scratch plate, ala Bruce Springsteen. Doesn't have to be a Fender, doesn't have to be old, just that classic look with the classic Tele single-coil sound. One day maybe... The other one I'd like, and much more likely to happen, is an early style ('51 to '56) Precision Bass copy, either in timber finish or something stark like white or dark blue.... or a Sting Signature Bass, which is kinda like a '55 Precision. Something like that would compliment "Jack" nicely |

An L-5,ES-175,or ES-175D would be nice.I'd love to have a pile of early Strats to play through,to find the right one. I wouldn't mind a nice '59 Gold Top. |

Jimduncan, that is not me. It is Billy Zoom. Don't feel bad, people mistake us for one another all of the time. I wouldn't mind getting my mitts around a Silver Jet like he's posing with in the photo, however. |
