Anyone planning on attending the IMS show in Greenville SC Feb 20-22? I started a thread in the C3 adventure folder. (Message edited by mikethebike72 on January 15, 2009) |

Alex, That was for a brand new, 0 mile, XB12R. I would hope that one that's a few years old and has some miles on it would be more reasonable. Currently my '95 S2, '03 V-Rod and the '08 XT-BOLT cost me right around $725 per year for full coverage. The M2 should be considered a Harley by most insurance companies licensed to deal in NC, and should be relatively cheap for insurance. Back when I had an XB12R, XB12S and XB12X quoted by my previous insurance company (connected to a previous Buell dealer - that couldn't find a rate for the XB12S or XB12X) quoted nearly $2,800 for a Firebolt I looked through a Full Throttle magazine and contacted all the insurance companies with ads in the magazine. In the end, Affordable Insurance of Catawba County came through with the best value for me. Along with increased coverage for accessories/aftermarket/custom parts. BTW, speeding tickets are also EXTREMELY cheap in Iowa. DAMHIK... 1313 |

Alex, glad to see you and Heather made it back. Welcome to K'ville. Several of my co-workers live there, and all of them seem to enjoy the smaller town. Are you looking to live in the city, or county area? One thing's for sure. Now is a good time to buy a house. Hope you find exactly what you are looking for. Keep us posted, and keep in mind, I'm only a few miles away. Once 'yall get settled in, I hope you'll be able to join me for some early Sunday morning 50 mile romps N and NW from Kernersville. All good or enjoyable things always come to an end. I finally go back to work Monday, after two weeks vacation and a two week layoff. Damned good thing it didn't happen in the summer, cause I probably would have headed out somewhere on the moto and came home completely broke. |

It just dawned on me, I'm gonna have to pack. A couple a weeks ago a couple walks up my driveway and says "we love your house, wanna sell it?" Long story short, it's under contract, they have money, and they don't have to sell a house first. Unless the deal goes South, I'm moving. ('course I never believe an R/E deal is done till the money changes hands). We're supposed to close on 2-20. Trish and I had been talking some time about selling and moving into the house we lived in previously about 5 miles away that's been sitting empty. So, here we go, happily. It's a great place. I'll have another big BBQ party to break it in again. I just put an '07 blue and white Aprilia Tuono R in the stable. I rode it about 25 miles today, I think it's gonna be a great bike. Just have to break it in. It's got a lotta honk and sounds fantastic with Leo Vince cans. |

It's a bull of a bike! Can't wait to get past break in. Some clear lenses on the signals and taillight and reflector removal will clean it up. Thanks Kristie! |

Awesome Jim! Thanks. Hi Amanda! Looking GOOD! 300 miles on the Tuono this weekend. When we left North Raleigh this a.m. we had a little snow and sleet bouncing off the visors. Glad I had heated gear. Rain the rest of the way. Had a great ride. Tuono means "Thunder" in Italian and when I pulled the baffles from the Leo Vince cans this evening, I understand. Hmmm, bad weather riding on a bike called Thunder ..... I'm at least kin to a badweatherbiker. |

So, who else rode to work today?
It was probably *snowing* a little harder when I went in to work this morning, but it had just started. The consensus of everyone that did show up at work was that we would leave at noon to avoid the afternoon freeze which would make the commute to home challenging enough on 4 wheels but much more on only 2. Personally, I had enough snow when I landed in Milwaukee Christmas Eve and there was a good 18-24 inches on the ground. The day after Christmas it got up to 50° in East Troy and rained most of the day, making the snow go BUH-BYE, 1313 |

I did not ride to work but did stay through the 3" to 4" of snow while at work. I love it around here in this weather. Everyone stays in so its like I have the world to myself. The kids and I took the sled out and rode down the front hill. We got into a snow ball fight. Then I took a walk tonight in the snow covered woods. I really love it around here because by the time I get sick of the snow, it will be 60°F, like Friday! |

Jlnance: Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember you running Continental Road Attacks on your Uly? If so, could you comment on the mileage? and type of riding you were doing. I'm looking for a long haul tire but not worried so much about sticky corner carving happiness all the time. RAIN issues/concerns are important to me as I will not be stopping. TIA Tim |

Tim, I love the road attacks. I just put one on my new Uly, after I wore out the Sync it came with. I first had them on the bike when I did the trip to the west coast. That was 8000 miles and they weren't worn out when I got home. I lent the bike to Spike after that, and he put several hundred more miles on them. I have always bought Road Attacks since that trip. I ride in a lot of rain. I've never had problems with tires slipping. I am not particularly aggressive in the rain though. It is the best mileage tire I have found. |
