Jim, I may be down to visit, but will not be riding. My bikes (and tools, and furniture etc) are all in storage until I buy another house... Hopefully I'll be closing on something around that time and will be riding again soon. |

Myrtle beach is done with bike weeks: geez, i can't blame them if this is what people were wearing to the gig: (Nance, can you snag me a pair of those boots, too, please? finally i'll be able to flat foot when i ride!) Prior, i'm damn ashamed you didn't find a way to stuff one of your bikes in the Civic and bring it with you. i thought i taught you better than that!! FB |

I had plans hashed out to get the Firebolt into the trunk of the Civic (or at least strap it to the trunk, we're in the South now)- but I wouldn't have any tools to put the old girl back together. The movers were mighty fond of moving the shop- I had damn near as much stuff out there as I had in the house. You can't put much stuff into a 1300 sq. ft farm house, but you can sure fill up a barn, shop and shed with tools, tools and more tools!!! Got some good news from the bank today on mortgages, so we're off and shopping soon. You'll have a new place to spill some beer on the floor in no time- just hope I can find a barn! |

Prior, dude, i gots tools, and i'm assuming the apartment you're renting has enough room to roll your bike into the living room for safekeeping (Gideon bibles make good kickstand supports - DAMHIK - and the Kernersville phone book would catch any oil drips...) just sayin'. hi to Heather. FB&D |

Prior, where you staying? Kernersville? If you want to get out and explore on a bike, the Durham HD dealership rents Blasts for $20/day. I've been tempted to rent from them even though I own a Blast because I think I do more than $20 of wear and tear in a day. Of course Kernersville is right below the good riding and Durham is 80 miles in the wrong direction. But it's still a sweet deal. The reason I was asking about Iowa is that I rode through it last summer going to and from Minneapolis. Didn't hit Dubuque though. I did see Dave S in LaPort. |

So Jim, is there something you need to tell us? Not on Badweb. Did you like Amanda's boots that much? She was the source of both the boot and Myrtle Beach links. You see how well I multitask. |

I've got my plate full without the bike- and Heather would kill me if I was getting up every morning and riding all over creation with her sitting in the apartment... I have a feeling a new steed will follow me home one of these days, so maybe that part of the problem is solved. Jim- next time you ride to Minneapolis, you'll have to run up the River road in Iowa or Wisconsin. It follows the Mississippi, and is definitely the twistiest road in Iowa, and is absolutely gorgeous. |

I feel like an imposter. I just want to find a house so I can get my toys back!!! Ray Price, huh? I see the Uly, what's the story with the motor on that bike? I also see a low mileage XT... Both of those models are on the potential list. I will have to swing by one of these days!!! |

I see the Uly, what's the story with the motor on that bike? I blew it up. I used to own that bike. A valve dropped at 53k miles and destroyed the top end of the engine. It was out of warranty, but Mikethebike72 asked HD to goodwill the fix, which they did. I traded it in while they were fixing it for another 06 Uly with 40k fewer miles. My original bike is now fixed. The motor has a new top end, and all the goodies I didn't think to take off. It's the one I rode through IA last summer, and to CA the prior fall. |

HI folks, things are happening so fast around me, it's making my head spin. I'm gonna be pretty busy for awhile, but I'll be around. It's all good (I'm riding too. yeehaa). I'm having a real yearning to ride out the coastal/Grifton/outer banks way. Welcome home Prior and family. (Message edited by rubberdown on January 14, 2009) |

twistiest road in Iowa Um, I think I will let that one lay. Welcome to NC Alex! Wise choice with the XT being a potential addition. The insurance for my first year (which ain't over yet...) with the XT was under $400. I also had a XB12R quoted at the same time and that was an additional $2,000 per year. At least now bikes don't have to run those stupid little inspection stickers anymore. Rubberdown, If you do head this way, please let me know. Hopefully it won't be while I'm in Germany, but if it is I'm sure our orbits will coincide sometime soon. 1313 |

$2400 to insure a Firebolt? Holy CRAP! That in itself may motivate me to sell it and get something else. That is one think I'll have to get used to- Iowa insurance is cheap! I paid just over $1400 a year full coverage on my pickup, two bikes and the house, barn and shop. Fasterferriser- We'll stay out of Kansas- for now. Are you guys around this weekend? |
